For those who are busy, I got the bullet points for you: 📛 Distilleries have been required to sell through licensed distributors for the past 90 years, but the world around it has changed 📛 Distribution outlets have consolidated by more than 30%, with 3 players controlling the majority of the market 📛 The single largest distributor is now 3x the size of the entire craft spirits industry of 2,753 distilleries ( 👋 Lina Khan) 📛 Distributors have used this consolidated leverage and legal authority to impose onerous contracts or simply refuse to sell products of craft distilleries outright, giving them no viable path to market 📛 About 45 distilleries have closed up shop since the beginning of '23 and it's only picking up steam It's time IL wakes up to this before it's too late and provides LIMITED self-distribution and direct-to-consumer sales rights to the state's distilleries. #FreeMarket, #IllinoisPolitics, #CraftSpirits
