They took a chance on us pre-launch, making deliveries out of our car trunks. After finding success and becoming a top performer in their fridges, we wanted to take this partnership to another level. So, we came together on a mission to create “the perfect lunchtime drink” that would both: 🤌 Compliment Ggiata’s authentic italian-style menu 🤝 Pay homage to the classic Half and Half beverages Ggiata’s founders grew up drinking in the neighborhood delis of their hometown Montclair, NJ. While traditional Half and Half beverages are typically loaded with calories and 50+ grams of sugar, this new launch provides a healthier alternative with— 🤌Only 60 calories ❤️80% less sugar than traditional options 😊Leisure’s signature blend of electrolytes, vitamins, and minerals But the story goes beyond just the product… Ggiata’s namesake comes from the Italian phrase passeggiata, which translates to “a leisurely stroll after a meal”. This isn’t just a product, it’s an invitation to take a break, slow down, and enjoy the meaningful moments life has to offer. We call this a Leisure Break. This has been one of my favorite projects since launching Leisure Hydration because it’s truly something no other brand in the hydration category would ever do. Not because they aren’t capable, but it just doesn’t make sense for sports oriented beverages to collaborate with a deli chain let alone to promote the idea of leisure. We often say that SKU's special sauce is our mentors. They have deep experience in their areas of expertise. SKU Fall '24 mentor Laura Arabie, who is on the Foraged & Found team, comes to SKU with over 20 years of operations and supply chain experience in CPG. Laura currently is vice president of operations at Siddhi Capital, where she provides operational leadership to the portfolio companies. Prior to Siddhi, she served as vice president of supply chain at Vital Farms, an ethically sourced and pasture raised egg and dairy brand. At Vital Farms, she managed the end-to-end supply chain for the entire portfolio of products, managed co-mans, 3PLs, and freight carriers, launched several new product lines, built a high-performing team and implemented process improvements to improve COGS. Laura's previous roles include senior vice president of supply chain for Maev, an emerging human-grade raw frozen dog food brand. At Maev, she was crucial in scaling the supply chain and expanding the operational footprint across the country to meet the high growth projections of the company. Laura also served as director of supply chain at Chameleon Cold-Brew, a nationally distributed organic RTD beverage company. At Chameleon, she managed the day-to-day operations, developed the S&OP program from scratch, and assisted with the brand's acquisition by Nestle. Laura also worked with REI, Clorox, and Nestle Ice Cream. "I am really enjoying learning about kelp with Foraged & Found," says Laura. In one month, I'll be running the New York Marathon. And as with almost everything in my life, I'm competing with my brother. He ran this 10 years ago in 3:41:07 (same exact course, we checked). Siete just sold for $1.2 billion — because the founders pivoted AWAY from their original vision. Siete makes tortillas and chips, but it started life in 2014 as a brand called Must B Nutty. The name referenced its main ingredient and differentiator: It uses almond flour, not grains. That was unique at the time — so they emphasized it on simple plastic bags. But as the brand took off, large competitors followed — and being grain-free was no longer as special. So, what set them apart next? AUTHENTICITY. This tortilla brand is made by a regular Mexican-American family, the Garzas of southern Texas! They leaned into that: They rebranded as Siete (named after the seven family members who run it) and adopted bright, bold patterns to emphasize their heritage. That became the foundation for their success. Before, the PRODUCT told the story. After, THE BRAND told the story. Last week, PepsiCo announced that it’s buying Siete for $1.2 billion. Could you imagine that deal for Must B Nutty? It’s important to ask: “What makes me different?” But it’s critical to KEEP asking that question — because the answer may change over time.
