There is an adult out there who who still thinks of you because you were kind to them as a kid. Never stop being a leader, mentor, and role model.

Aspen institute recently released their annual report on youth sports containing key points that are insightful for the direction of our future growth. Here's a quick overview: -Parents value trustworthy coaches who are trained and ready to take on the task of coaching youth sports. Parents are more likely to commit their children to sports programs if the coaches they are working with have experience and training in the development of life and sports skills. Training is becoming increasingly more important in the world of youth sports. -Participation in sports is increasing with the youth population, almost reaching pre-covid numbers. This is important to note because as the first exposure to sports for our youth, Skyhawks will be serving a purpose of creating a positive first experience for our kids. Our mission to make sports fun while teaching kids life skills becomes more important with the rise of youth sports. -Ohio University did a survey asking why adults quit sports as a child. The two highest responses were not having fun and feeling like they weren't a good enough player. This is where Skyhawks is advantageous due to the noncompetitive nature of our programs. We will continue to prioritize making sports fun for our youth while not putting the pressure of winning or competition onto them. Our focus will strive to be on developing skills rather than completive goals. -There has been a steady decrease in boys participation in sports with speculators claiming it's because the increased competitiveness of teams. The lack of noncompetitive sports organizations for boys to join if they are cut or don't make it onto a competitive team may also be a factor a well. As Skyhawks continues to deliver inclusive, noncompetitive sports programs to our youth, our job will be to build skills and encourage participation with all children. -Through the Healthy People 2023 program, the federal government has set a goal to have youth sports participation at 63% by 2030. As a youth sports organization that reaches a national level, we have the power to impact this movement by increasing efforts to reach more kids and parents as we grow.
