🤝 Our Lab Director John Sarrao welcomed visionaries and thought leaders with the Oppenheimer Leadership Network (OLN) at Stanford University this week to “Imagining the Future: The Role of Our National Labs in Realizing a Sustainable, Resilient, and Equitable Energy Future.” SLAC co-hosted the workshop with OLN for collaboration on boosting the role of the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) national labs in meeting global sustainability challenges and opportunities. The Oppenheimer Science and Energy Leadership Program (https://bit.ly/3LMsJpj) is a fellowship program designed to build and support future leaders. More on the program: https://bit.ly/3WwhgiL

Exactly one year ago I was attending SAGE camp with SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory. SAGE camp was an amazing opportunity that I was able to attend the summer before my senior year of high school. During this time I was struggling in what areas of study I should pursue in college. SAGE camp helped me decide to pursue my interest in science. This fall I will attend University of California, Davis to study Biological Systems Engineering. Thank you SAGE Journey for the amazing experiences and I hope more students have the opportunity to experience the program!

Today, we celebrate the incredible contributions of interns everywhere. Interns are more than just learners—they are innovators, fresh thinkers, and the future of our industries. I've had the pleasure of working with some fantastic interns who have not only brought new energy to the program, but have also taught me new perspectives and approaches about collaboration and life in general. To all interns out there, make sure to pat yourself on the back for your hard work, dedication, and enthusiasm. A lot of times, we’re so caught up in being the best that we can be that we don’t recognize the best that we have done. To my fellow SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory interns (plus River Robles), thank you for not only being the coworkers that listen to me yap about my 5^5 plasma simulations, but also for being the friends that put up with my shenanigans and join me on my side quests. Are you guys down for SomiSomi tonight? Happy National Intern Day and remember that it’s our teamwork that makes the beam work! #NationalInternDay #FutureLeaders #InternshipExperience #Gratitude #SLAC #pwfa #particleaccelerators
