In 2024, AI appeared on our collective radar in a major way. At Slide UX, we've already found ways to improve the quality and efficiency of our services using AI. But AI isn't only useful in serving our clients... it's also useful for understanding our own customers. If you shopped for holiday gifts online this season, you probably noticed AI-generated summaries of product reviews–so helpful. Imagine our delight when we noticed that Clutch.co has added AI-generated summaries to client reviews about working with us! Here are some of the highlights...

Our consolidation captains are our heros. 💪 Y'all know who you are!
As an outside partner, one of our challenges is managing stakeholders and communication on our projects. On most of our projects we have a core team and a consolidation captain who attend regular meetings. The consolidation captain is ONE PERSON, often someone from the product team, who: -Communicates scheduling and availability -Directs their team's attention to where it's needed -Identifies the right people to contribute on a particular topic -Consolidates the final feedback on each round of work -Delivers actionable feedback (delivering the "why", not necessarily the "how") -Connects us with folks from outside the core team when there's an open question the core team can't answer - Fields communication on things like budget, time spent, etc. Additionally, we work with a core team of two to five people for each initiative. That includes the consolidation captain, a representatives from various teams who take part in reviewing deliverables. The core team: - Provides input - Helps us understand the customer - May speak to the brand or the organization's goals. - May be involved in implementation or operations, telling us about what challenges we might anticipate in actually making something happen. - Has the time and the temperament to review even early-stage work. Having a point person is important, but we don't want our work to reflect the opinions of just one person, and the core team helps round that out. When necessary, sometimes there's even what we call an extended team who gets the more polished work in a broader setting. If you have any questions about how we work at Slide UX, reach out to me or leave a comment below. I’m happy to answer them or put you in touch with a Slider who can help. — Hi, I’m Erin. We're so grateful for clients like the smart folks over at KindHealth. Albert and his team have been innovating for years, and we are grateful to have supported them at many stages along the way. Thanks for the kind words, Albert!
When looking for a UX team, folks tend to look for great portfolios or experience with brands that are similar to theirs. Those things matter, but there are other criteria that are even more important. UX design is 95% communication. A firm’s work samples won’t always answer the most important question–whether or not you’ll be able to communicate effectively with the UX team you select. The way I view it, design is a dance. You need a partner who's going to provide informed suggestions, and talk you through the pros and cons of the decisions that you're making. You need them to trust the expertise your team brings to the table, and to respect your guardrails and what they mean to the project. A lot of the traits that really determine whether a UX partnership is going to be a good one can't be seen in portfolios or client lists. That’s why it's important to pay attention to the vibes, the reviews, and the references. Include those observations as key information in your selection process. PS. Don't we clean up nice? This photo is from our Slide UX Team Time earlier this year... looking forward getting together again in November!
