Thank you NY Governor Kathy Hochul for continuing to focus on the importance school-based dental care has on the health and well-being of New York’s most vulnerable populations. A special shout-out to founder, Marcy Borofsky, Regional Manager Gabriella Iannuzzi and all NYC school administrators and parent advocates who shared personal, passionate stories for how Smile New York Outreach has made an lifelong impact on the kids throughout NYC! We will never stop fighting to bring smiles and good oral health where they are needed!

Big congratulations to CEO Steve Higginbotham, for being named a Notable Leader in Health Care! 🎉 Under Steve's leadership, the organization has transformed into a leading dental service organization, helping to bring essential care to 450,000 underserved children annually in 20 states. His vision has been instrumental in expanding our impact. In 2023 alone, we donated nearly $9 million in charity care! We couldn’t be prouder of Steve’s incredible contributions to the dental health of children across the nation. 👏 #Leadership #HealthcareHero #MobileDentistry #SmileAmericaPartners #NotableLeader https://lnkd.in/gVxAaTrh

"A growing body of research shows that SDF [silver diamine fluoride]—which is quicker to apply and less expensive than sealants—can prevent and arrest cavities, reducing the need for drilling and filling," said Richard Niederman, DMD, professor of epidemiology & health promotion at NYU College of Dentistry and the study's senior author. https://lnkd.in/gBwQJfQj

Special thanks to Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine and Texas Gov. Greg Abbott for speaking with CEO Steve Higginbotham about our school-based dental home program. The DeWine administration, along with the Ohio state legislature, backed the largest Medicaid dental reimbursement increase in the state's history, lifting costly regulations that restricted access to care and advancing school-based health care throughout Ohio. We are excited to host Gov. DeWine and Lt. Gov. Jon Husted at one of our in-school dental visits soon. Smile America Partners is also pleased to be working with Gov. Abbott, his administration and other key Texas stakeholders to promote the value of school-based health care in reaching its vulnerable populations.

Congrats to our own Nancy Kuy, RDH, MSc for her article in Dimensions of Dental Hygiene highlighting the importance of school-based dental programs, particularly among immigrant children. Thank you for dedicating your time and voice to this worthy cause. With cultural sensitivity, we can address the significant barriers to care faced by asylum seekers and bring smiles and good oral health where they are needed. https://lnkd.in/gqXmwwXu
