SMSDC is the minority business owner’s direct link to corporate America.
About us
Established in 1999, the Southwest Minority Supplier Development Council (SMSDC) is a 501(c) 3 organization committed to advocating and building relationships for mutually beneficial business opportunities for our Corporate Members and Minority Business Enterprises. Our mission is to create opportunities and an environment for minority enterprises to grow and to actively add value to corporate members through positive business relationships. The SMSDC is just one of 23 affiliated councils of the National Minority Supplier Development Council (NMSDC). The National Minority Supplier Development Council is the only national minority business development organization providing certification throughout the U.S. The NMSDC is nationally recognized for providing the “Gold Standard” certification for MBEs. The NMSDC’s Standardized Certification Policies and Procedures outline stringent requirements for the certification of minority owned businesses. These standards are firmly adhered to by its 23 affiliated councils.

Up and a’tem for a magnificent Monday and great week ahead! Time for a crazy recap 💥 from the past two weeks, you ready? 1. The Southwest Minority Supplier Development Council held their 25th Anniversary 🎉Celebration Gala 🥳 and Premier Face Time Expo in San Antonio the last week of May. I had the opportunity to connect with so many MBEs from across Texas, Austin, San Antonio and beyond. Conferences are great, but the follow up afterwards with business owners is what’s so important. Hopefully you sent me an InMail for your more in depth 1:1, I’m busy this week😁. Thanks Karen Box and the SMSDC for always including me and the San Antonio Chase team. 2. Next up, I spent two powerful days last week at the 2024 Radical Impact Women's Business Enterprise Alliance Conference in HTown 🤘🏾. Contrary to what people think, I do live and work in Houston 🤣. Moderating the Secrets to Scale panel with four dynamic women business owners and getting to connect 1:1 with Top WBEs by sponsoring their reception was everything. Thanks to Zsaquez Jordan and Branden Morris, MBA, CSBC for connecting with so many women businesses at the marketplace and business fair. April Day, Ph.D , the RADICAL conference leveled up again! Thanks to you and your team for a phenomenal event and always including me 😁. 3. Last, but definitely not least, J.P. Morgan Private Bank and JPMorgan Chase Commercial Banking partnered with Houston Texans’ 🏈 Laremy Tunsil’s Divine Tree 🌳 Foundation for an invite only Entrepreneur Mixer at Jolie Houston. It was great to recognize and award Tiffany Ryland and Warren Broadnax for their extrodonairy work as entrepreneurs and long time community leaders. Derrick Strozier , thanks for partnering and never saying no, it’s always “let’s see what we can do D”. And everything done has set the bar and been next level💪🏾. Whew😅 Well that’s all folks, for now🤣! And as always, until next post, get involved ✌🏾
