We continue our transition in leadership with the announcement of two Vice Chair Promotions! Matthew Weirich and Harrisen Cefalu-Schwartz will be taking over as Vice Chairs on our Board of Trustees.
Matthew Weirich has served as a project team lead twice, once for Terps Racing Internal and then again for our project with the education technology startup School Harbor. His success as team lead earned him a promotion to Principal Consultant. Since then, he has served as Director of Marketing, Director of Administration, and Director of Onboarding.
Matthew will be joining Finnegan, Henderson, Farabow, Garrett & Dunner, LLP upon his graduation next spring. As a future lawyer, and current holder of multiple U.S. patents, he brings a unique approach to problem solving and an incredible work ethic that SCG benefits immensely from. Next semester he will be studying abroad in Madrid, Spain. Despite being 6 hours ahead of our local time zone, Matthew will continue his pattern of leadership in SCG as a Co-Director of Recruitment. We look forward to seeing the success he will have in the Vice Chair role! Congratulations Matthew!
As a first semester freshman in SCG, Harrisen Cefalu-Schwartz's curious attitude and tenacious question-asking immediately primed him as someone who would do well in SCG. He served as team lead for our second engagement with the Office of Career Services which focused on improving the response rate on forms related to internship and job placements through HireSmith.
This spring he started his first full semester as a Principal Consultant and took on the roles of Director of Marketing and Director of Client Recruitment. As Director of Marketing, he worked with our recruitment team to increase applications from non-business backgrounds. This led to over 40% of our applications coming from outside the business school. As Director of Client Recruitment, he has spearheaded the initiative for SCG to collaborate with more non-profit external clients, which we will be debuting this fall thanks to his tireless efforts towards this goal.
This summer Harrisen will be joining our longstanding partner EY as a Financial Services Risk Management intern. We look forward to seeing how he’ll continue to impact SCG in his new role. Congratulations Harrisen!
