  • We'll be finishing off our transition announcements with the promotion of four SCG consultants to our Principal team! Vincent Yu has served as a project team lead twice, first in the spring of 2023 for our engagement with UMD Loop, and then again, the following semester on our project with the University Career Center for the College of CMNS at UMD. Vincent has served as Associate Director of Onboarding, Associate Director of Case Development, and Associate Director of Finance. His incredible commitment to SCG’s growth has been admirable and we are very excited to see what he will do as a Principal Consultant. Congratulations Vincent! Angela McGonigle joined SCG last spring and has since been invaluable in creating an engaging community for our members. This semester she led a successful project with the OMBA Society while also serving as our Associate Director of Web Development. She will be taking over as Director of Web Development and Director of Administration and managing our case mentorship program. Congratulations Angie! Carter Gibson joined SCG as a first semester freshman. As a Mechanical Engineering major, he had the problem-solving skills we look for in new members, and as a consultant he has proven those skills time and again. This semester he served as team lead for our project with Double Black Diamondbacks. As a Principal he will be serving as our Director of External Affairs and Director of Case Development. Congratulations Carter! Melanie Hwan’s work as a team lead this semester for our project with Active Minds, in her first full semester as a consultant, quickly earned her a spot on our Principals team. Melanie took our initiative for providing tangible deliverables to heart in creating Event Planning, Executive Transition, and Social Media Guides for the Active Minds team. She will be taking over as our Director of Marketing and Director of D&I in the fall semester. We look forward to her continuing her success in SCG as a Principal Consultant! Congratulations Melanie!

Another semester executed for the Snider Consulting Group and EY partnership. I continue to be so impressed with how the students find clients, establish and execute these projects. As an organization, SCG, is a phenomenal student run club that serves the University of Maryland community. They even took on a project with an external startup company that serves educational groups. We celebrated the completion of the semester and the send off of the graduating seniors and grad students that are moving onto their careers. So proud. We also recognized the incoming executive board and new promotes. A great surprise for me was my son, Carter Gibson’s promotion to Principal Consultant. We are growing the next generation of capable consultants.

  • We continue our transition in leadership with the announcement of two Vice Chair Promotions! Matthew Weirich and Harrisen Cefalu-Schwartz will be taking over as Vice Chairs on our Board of Trustees. Matthew Weirich has served as a project team lead twice, once for Terps Racing Internal and then again for our project with the education technology startup School Harbor. His success as team lead earned him a promotion to Principal Consultant. Since then, he has served as Director of Marketing, Director of Administration, and Director of Onboarding. Matthew will be joining Finnegan, Henderson, Farabow, Garrett & Dunner, LLP upon his graduation next spring. As a future lawyer, and current holder of multiple U.S. patents, he brings a unique approach to problem solving and an incredible work ethic that SCG benefits immensely from. Next semester he will be studying abroad in Madrid, Spain. Despite being 6 hours ahead of our local time zone, Matthew will continue his pattern of leadership in SCG as a Co-Director of Recruitment. We look forward to seeing the success he will have in the Vice Chair role! Congratulations Matthew! As a first semester freshman in SCG, Harrisen Cefalu-Schwartz's curious attitude and tenacious question-asking immediately primed him as someone who would do well in SCG. He served as team lead for our second engagement with the Office of Career Services which focused on improving the response rate on forms related to internship and job placements through HireSmith. This spring he started his first full semester as a Principal Consultant and took on the roles of Director of Marketing and Director of Client Recruitment. As Director of Marketing, he worked with our recruitment team to increase applications from non-business backgrounds. This led to over 40% of our applications coming from outside the business school. As Director of Client Recruitment, he has spearheaded the initiative for SCG to collaborate with more non-profit external clients, which we will be debuting this fall thanks to his tireless efforts towards this goal. This summer Harrisen will be joining our longstanding partner EY as a Financial Services Risk Management intern. We look forward to seeing how he’ll continue to impact SCG in his new role. Congratulations Harrisen!

  • We're proud to announce the promotion of Faith LeBrun to President and Chair of the Board of Trustees in SCG! Faith joined SCG as a first semester freshman and since then has been a model member and leader. In her first semester as a full-time consultant, she led the Terps Racing External project team which culminated in the creation of a Terps Racing sponsorship packet, improved alumni relations, and social media enhancement strategies for Terps Racing’s LinkedIn and Instagram. Faith was promoted to the role of Principal Consultant in the Spring of ‘23 and immediately took on significant leadership responsibility coordinating our Mentorship program with EY. This spring Faith served as our Director of Recruitment, leading SCG to an all-time record in total applications, with a semester over semester increase of 27%. As a member of QUEST Honors Program at UMD, intern for Interdisciplinary Business Honors (IBH) Program, social media intern for University of Maryland - Robert H. Smith School of Business, and private tutor, Faith has no shortage of responsibilities. However, she has always made time not only to contribute to the growth of SCG, but to create initiatives that carry our organization forward. This summer, Faith will return to Strategy& as a consulting intern. We look forward to her first full semester as President and Chair this fall. Congratulations Faith!
