Last week, my son was born 3.5 mo's early, barely viable at 1 lb. I have more hope for life than ever before. Here are 3 reflections on this crazy time in my life: 1. Business can still grow while prioritzing family I launched Snowball 3 months ago, and I commited to building it differently. I used to grow companies to massive scale, whatever the personal cost to me. But, all I care about today is Liam's growth. Even as I spend hours a day with Liam in the hospital, Snowball is growing faster than the peak of growth of all my previous companies combined. 2. Lean into the chaos Liam was born the night before a scheduled big move into our new home. Old Ryan would have broken down. Instead, I chose to laugh and realize that life is just going to a wild ride the next few months. We have a micro-premie in the hospital, a rapidly growing business, a new home + daughter at home. Time to buckle up and bring my A-game. 3. Appreciate life for what it actually is This chaos has brought me the most hope I've ever had, all because of these three pillars: • 1st: my faith in God, the most important thing to me • 2nd: the love & strength of my wife, family, and friends • 3rd: building the most talented team on the planet Please keep Liam in your prayers. It's clear he's a fighter. I'm constantly in awe of his resilience, and I plan to fight alongside him.
