Gender practitioners, academics & activists amplifying feminist expertise & research to advance gender justice
About us
Gender specialists around the world are called upon to work with policy-makers, governments, media, non-profits and the private sector on a range of activities from gender mainstreaming, inclusion and integration to program design, research and evaluation, gender budgeting or policy analysis, organizational audits and more. Gender specialists are expected to understand and apply feminist theoretical frameworks and methodologies to a range of technical sectors, such as education, agriculture, infrastructure, nutrition and economics. A number of professional organizations exist in many technical sectors serving gender specialists' work, and some include subsets that focus on gender or feminist praxis. But no cross-cutting association exists to professionalise the gender field and meet the needs of a growing group of gender specialists across sectors and around the world. The Society of Gender Professionals (SGP) aims to fill this gap. We are a non-profit network and organization of gender practitioners, academics, and activists dedicated to promoting feminist action and applied research, and raising the profile of gender expertise. We aim to: - Promote development of intersectional gender expertise for professional practice - Strengthen connections between gender theory, policy, and practice - Promote member collaboration, network-weaving, mentorship, and feminist co-leadership of SGP - Foster production and dissemination of applied gender research - Provide a platform for the exchange of gender expertise and resources Our vision for the SGP is to become the largest cross-sectoral network of gender specialists worldwide; with members who feel empowered with the resources and networks they need to thrive in their careers as gender specialists and to advance gender justice in their communities through coordinated feminist action. Become a member at www.genderprofessionals.org/members and then join SGP's closed LinkedIn group here: www.linkedin.com/groups/14045127/

Solidarity with #BIPOC former staff of the Center for Feminist Foreign Policy
A few days ago, journalist James Jackson shared an open letter from former BIPOC employees of the Centre for Feminist Foreign Policy (CFFP). It’s devastating to read about the injustices they endured, a stark reminder of how white feminism can perpetuate the very inequalities it claims to dismantle. Many stood in solidarity with advisory council members like Kavita Nandini Ramdas, Selmin H. Çalışkan , Sawsan Chebli , Sanam Naraghi Anderlini, MBE and Rosebell Kagumire let’s extend that same support to these BIPOC feminists and recognize that true intersectionality requires both words and actions. I commend the courage of these former BIPoC employees.
