About us

Society of Peer Mentors (SPM) is an interdisciplinary organization within the College of Engineering at Louisiana State University (LSU). Our mentors are trained to be leaders in the university and the community; they educate middle school students at STEM nights, mentor high school robotics teams, teach incoming college freshmen about surviving as an engineering student, and much more. In addition to being community leaders during college, our members continue to have a bright future after graduation. SPM mentors have a 90% retention rate within the college of engineering, compared to the college average of 40%. Why do most mentors think SPM helped them succeed? The outstanding community of peers they have as a resource and support group throughout their undergraduate experience. Interested in joining SPM? Follow our page for updates about applications. Want the SPM experience at a different university? Reach out to us! SPM is looking to go national and would love the opportunity to open a chapter at your university.
