Can you imagine going a day without access to clean water? Picture this: You wake up and want to brush your teeth, wash your face, and use the toilet, but the faucets are dry and the toilet tank is empty. You want to make yourself a pot of coffee, but again, you have no running water. All day long you run into instances where you're unable to perform basic tasks because you don't have access to safe water. For those impacted by Hurricane Helene and many other communities around the world, this is a current reality. Our changing climate is resulting in more severe and deadly weather events. When we work together and invest in our communities to conserve and protect our natural resources, we are helping to build a future more resilient to these weather events. About the photo: An SWCS staff member recently aided in clean up and recovery efforts out in Western North Carolina following Hurricane Helene and saw firsthand the toll the hurricane took on access to clean water and other basic needs. The photo below shows remnants of a bridge, just one example of the havoc wrought on infrastructure in the area. #ImagineADayWithoutWater The Value of Water Campaign, US Water Alliance
