Qualified Remodeler 2024 Master Design Awards Michael K. Walker & Associates, Inc. | Whole House More Than $1 Million — GOLD Designed to function as a vacation home for a European family, this project started as a multi-work effort renovation and addition to an existing beach bungalow. Due to the siting of the existing residence being much farther out toward the beach than most of the adjacent structures on this barrier island, the client opted to remodel and add to the existing structure rather than demolish and construct a new residence. This approach provided for unobstructed north and south views of the Gulf of Mexico that would not have been possible if a new residence was built. Best Master Bathroom $75,000-$125,000 – GOLD | Kitchen & Bath Design Awards 2024 Japandi Retreat by Lana Nguyen Design by the Jonathans, New Haven, CT The owners of this Woodbridge, CT home wanted to transform their non-functional 1980s primary bathroom into a sanctuary with a focus on inviting nature into the space. For Nguyen, the biggest challenge was the layout and how to deal with the slanted tall ceiling. Removing the wall that separated the existing bathroom from a narrow walk-in closet resulted in a highly functional and calm retreat.
