SolAmerica Energy Breaks Ground on Illinois Solar Portfolio, the first it will own and operate since acquisition by AB CarVal Today, SolAmerica Energy begins construction on an 18 MW portfolio of projects across Illinois. The portfolio includes four community solar projects and three behind-the-meter industrial projects, all of which will rely on Ohio-made modules from First Solar. SolAmerica entered a supply agreement with First Solar in 2023 as part of its commitment to Buy American and to position for the domestic content adder under the Investment Tax Credit. This is the first portfolio that SolAmerica Energy will own and operate since being acquired by AB CarVal in 2023. “We are excited for this important milestone and look forward to quickly turning more of our rapidly growing pipeline across the US into successful portfolios,” said CEO Tully Blalock. All projects will be energized in the first half of 2025.

“The folks making money from renewable energy projects are conservative and Republican,” said Drew Christensen, senior director of public engagement at Apex Clean Energy in Virginia and a former Republican representative from Minnesota. Speaker after speaker argued that free market competition, consumer choice, private property rights and cutting government overregulation are fundamentally Republican values. If those principles prevail, clean energy will thrive in the U.S., they believe. https://lnkd.in/e3-BGedh
