ICYMI: U.S. Department of the Treasury finalized rules around two major solar manufacturing tax credits last week, Section 48D and Section 45X. These crucial steps will help supercharge American manufacturing and dramatically expand our domestic #solar supply chain. Here's why⤵️ On Tuesday, Treasury clarified that solar ingot and wafer production facilities and equipment qualify for the Section 48D 25% investment tax credit under the CHIPS Act. While the U.S. is a global leader in module manufacturing, we don’t have any ingot and wafer facilities in operation yet. This clarity is a thoughtful approach to industrial policy and will dramatically expand the upstream development of the solar supply chain. Read SEIA's statement: https://lnkd.in/ecYRwg7U On Thursday, Treasury issued final rules for the Advanced Manufacturing Production Tax Credit under Section 45X. Section 45X is one of the most influential policies we have to onshore the solar supply chain and clarity here is key. These rules provide the certainty domestic solar and storage manufacturers need to move forward with their investments. Read SEIA's statement: https://lnkd.in/ekczuj4g

America's battleground states have attracted BILLIONS of dollars in new #solar and #storage investments since 2020 — and recent polling shows how this historic support for clean energy could swing the U.S. presidential election. The buildout of solar and storage is concentrated in swing states like Arizona, Nevada, and Pennsylvania. In fact, Energy Innovation Policy and Technology LLC estimates that swing states will host 48% of newly-announced clean energy manufacturing projects. #Arizona: - In Arizona, solar manufacturing has grown considerably and 82% of voters there say solar is good for the state's economy. - Maricopa County, the pivotal swing county in the 2020 election, has opened three separate solar manufacturing facilities in the last four years. #Nevada: - Nevada has added thousands of new solar jobs since 2020, driving bipartisan support for the energy source. - Among GOP voters, a hypothetical Republican who supports solar has a 25-point advantage over a Republican who opposes it. #Pennsylvania: - Pennsylvania's energy leadership has continued into the clean energy era. Clean energy industries now employ 8x more Pennsylvanians than the state’s gas industry. With 9 in 10 Americans supporting federal incentives for solar and new investments concentrated in the most electorally-important states, America’s solar and energy storage industry is poised have an outsized impact in races up and down the ballot: https://lnkd.in/eUF_TD92

🎉Exciting news!🎉We’re thrilled that YouthBuild Global has launched a solar installation training and certification pilot to equip young people with the skills and credentials they need to pursue careers in the solar industry! This initiative is now underway at YouthBuild Lake County in North Chicago, Illinois, and YouthBuild Just A Start in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Training will begin in November at CLC, Inc. YouthBuild Fort Worth in Fort Worth, Texas. Alongside our partners UNIRAC, Solar Landscape's STEP-UP Solar Training program, and the Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA), we’re proud to have developed and implemented a training curriculum specifically for #YouthBuild students and graduates to streamline the certification process and directly respond to the green skills gap by engaging #opportunityyouth. We can’t wait to see how these trainees will build brighter futures for themselves, their neighborhoods, and our world! #BuildingBrighterFuturesTogether https://lnkd.in/eVZFWUuQ

NEW: Today, the U.S. Department of the Treasury finalized rules on the Section 45X tax credit, accepting many of SEIA’s recommendations and delivering the long-term certainty domestic #solar and #storage manufacturers need to move forward with their investments. “As a result of these rules, investments in American workers and factories are here to stay. Whether it’s solar panel manufacturing in Georgia, steel rolling in Pennsylvania, or mineral production in Montana, the solar and storage industry is committed to making homegrown solar products." — Abby Hopper Read SEIA’s statement: https://lnkd.in/euh7tyae

“When I go home, the kids ask me how my day was, and I tell them it was a good day. I was able to be productive [and] produce material that’s needed to provide our solar energy.” American clean energy jobs are on the rise – thanks to the 2022 Inflation Reduction Act (IRA). According to the Interstate Renewable Energy Council (IREC), the solar industry added 15,564 jobs in 2023, alone. And by 2030, Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA) predicts there will be 115,000 solar manufacturing jobs! Since the IRA’s passing, life has improved for many Americans across the country, like Jeremy Mendes, who is taking his on-the-job training as an electrician to the next level at JM Steel – a factory partnering with Nextracker on producing green steel for large solar energy systems. See the IRA in action by taking in Jeremy’s story, which includes working in a supportive environment, while making a difference in America’s energy independence and steel manufacturing revival. And keep the insights rolling – learn more about the positive impact of the IRA by hearing directly from more Americans: https://bit.ly/4h8S3o7 How has the IRA positively impacted your life?
