Decarbonizing the physical world.

About us

At Solugen, we believe planet-scale change starts with the chemistry we use every day. We’re revolutionizing how things are made with the world’s first carbon negative molecule factory: the Bioforge. Harnessing the power of evolved enzymes, plant-based feedstocks, and clean, catalytic reactions, we are making the materials we need to sustain life on Earth—faster, cheaper, and without emissions or waste.

  • We’re honored to be named to the American Dynamism 50 by Andreessen Horowitz, a list of companies shaping the fight of the future by strengthening America’s resilience in an era of geopolitical uncertainty. The world is changing, and the U.S. must be prepared—not just to deter conflict, but to ensure our industries, infrastructure, and supply chains are built to last. Solugen is tackling one of the biggest blind spots in American manufacturing: the chemicals that power our supply chains. From energy and defense to semiconductors and advanced materials, every sector depends on chemistry—and today, much of that production is offshored. We’re changing that. By scaling bio-based manufacturing, we’re bringing critical chemical production back to U.S. soil—securing supply chains, reducing foreign dependence, and reinforcing the foundation of American industry. We’re proud to stand alongside the companies reshoring manufacturing, strengthening industrial capacity, and ensuring the U.S. remains an innovation powerhouse. 👀 Check out the other companies leading the charge: https://lnkd.in/e4KyK2M8 #AmericanDynamism #Manufacturing #Onshoring #Resilience #FutureofIndustry

  • From odd jobs to flipping the script on chemical manufacturing—Solugen’s founding story is a fun one. 👀 Co-founder and CTO Sean Hunt calls it a “story of hysterical luck,” but let’s be honest—luck alone doesn’t disrupt a $6T industry. In MIT Technology Review’s latest alumni feature, Sean reflects on his journey from mowing lawns and busing tables to fusing biology and chemistry to rebuild the American industrial base—one molecule at a time. 🔗 Read more about his story and the work we’re doing at Solugen: https://lnkd.in/gZ8dhz4U

  • Traditional cooling tower treatment relies on phosphorus-based inhibitors—effective, but with environmental downsides. What if we could maintain performance while reducing phosphorus discharge? Solugen’s latest research by Matheus P. Paschoalino, PhD is featured in the latest issue of Cooling Technology Institute's CTI Journal. This technical paper explores a phosphorus-neutral approach that improves corrosion control and scale prevention—all while minimizing phosphorus use. A win for both industry and the environment. 📄 Read the executive summary: https://lnkd.in/gZG6rNF4 📖 Dive into the full technical paper on page 42: https://lnkd.in/gRqkTdqE
