Innovation Meets Impact: A New Model for Engaged Learning We just published a new article for the National Association for Community College Entrepreneurship (NACCE) to demonstrate how engaged learning is transforming the way students tackle real-world challenges and create experiential learning opportunities. This new model emphasizes collaboration between educators, students, and the community, creating a collaborative environment where learning extends beyond the classroom. By developing entrepreneurial mindsets and hands-on experience, we're not only teaching students but also empowering them to make a meaningful and immediate impact. Check out the full blog post to learn more about how this approach is reshaping the future of education. https://lnkd.in/gnKHBmAm #HigherEducation #StudentInnovation #Entrepreneurship #CommunityCollege #EngagedLearning #NACCE #SolveCC

Great job Heidi! We’re so proud to see your dedication to the Modesto community and generosity with It Takes a Village. Keep up the amazing work!
Heidi Broker, a Scoot educator in Modesto, was a finalist for the Team Community Challenge sponsored by Modesto Junior College and Solve Community Challenges. As a result, Heidi and her team won $2,500! 🏆 Heidi has worked in a long-term role at Aspire University Charter School since January 2024. To support the school community, Heidi and her team donated $1,000 of the winnings to the Aspire Public Schools network. 📚🏫 Heidi also made a sizable donation to "It Takes a Village", a nonprofit in Modesto focused on supporting students who are unhoused. Heidi was inspired by students she supports at her school and we want to celebrate Heidi for giving back to her community! 🌟👏 #modestoteachers

🌟 Witnessing the Power of Student-Driven Innovation 🌟 After over two years of collaborative efforts, I recently had the incredible opportunity to visit the beautiful campus of Modesto Junior College, a vibrant hub brimming with creative and caring individuals. My time there was particularly rewarding as I had the privilege of judging the SolveCC teams alongside an exceptional group of fellow judges. I extend my heartfelt appreciation to Rafael Cardona, MBA, Dr. Caron Sada , Jessica Hilboldt, Alexander Piccininni, Jay Dunlap, James Tuedio, and Travis Silvers for their invaluable contributions! I must say, the talent and dedication displayed by the student teams were truly inspiring! It's moments like these that remind me of the profound importance of giving agency to students and watch the magic happens! I am truly proud to have played a small role in providing these students with opportunities to pursue their passions, become more engaged citizens, and ultimately contribute to the betterment of their communities. A heartfelt thank you goes out to Emily Lawrence for orchestrating such an amazing event! Congratulations to the following outstanding teams: 1. Modesto Mushroom Project 2. MJC Biomass Project: Biofuels 3. Seedling Education Project 4. GreenNote Initiative 5. Mental Healers 6. The Garden I can't wait to witness all the incredible achievements you'll accomplish in the future! A special thanks to all the champions who brought us to this point: Chad Redwing, Aishah Saleh, Emily Lawrence, Sabrina Miranda, Debbie Gilbert, Rob Stevenson, Annaliese Hausler, Eva Mo, Huy Nguyen, and the rest of the SolveCC team. A reminder that LOVE is powerful and worth sharing! Great video by our team speaker coach and mentor, Stephanie Paul. Happy Valentine's Day!
My question to you is... what are you going to do for the people you LOVE on Valentine's Day? With a brave heart, anything is possible. 💜 Love gives us courage. Sometimes miracles are just good people with kind hearts filled with love. A wise gentleman once said, offer people a ladder that is good leadership. The poet Rumi said, be a lamp or a lifeboat or a ladder, help someone's soul heal, walk out of your house like a shepherd. We are all given our gifts, so we can give them away. When all is said and done. You can’t take anything with you. Will you know how well did you love? How fully did you live? And how deeply did you let go? Be the reason someone feels seen, #heard, #valued, #loved, and #supported. Not just today, every day! With all my love. Happy Valentine's Day. SolveCC is a collaborative platform where students are incentivized to create teams to identify problems and design/implement solutions to address these problems in a peer-to-peer process. If we believe that talent is everywhere but access and support are not, we need to address this disparity. And this is exactly what Solve CC is focusing on. #SolveCC #CommunityChallenges #StudentEmpowerment
