Check out this exclusive behind the scenes sneak peek of our Director of Program Operations Heather Carr interviewing South Georgia Healthy Start (SGHS) participant Savannah (and having a great time in the process)! SGHS is honored to be a featured partner in the 2024 American Public Health Association (APHA) TV Thought Leadership Film Series. We completed filming the end of September and look forward to the finished film being shared at the upcoming APHA 2024 Annual Meeting and Expo in Minneapolis and with all of you soon after! The film profiles SGHS's work to improve maternal and infant health outcomes in our rural, 10-county project area in Southeast Georgia. SGHS provides direct and enabling services and operates a community consortium that informs the services provided. We appreciate that the impact of our work in our communities is being highlighted, and we hope this film promotes the importance of programs like ours in the public health and community medicine fields. Go SGHS! 💜 WebsEdge

South Georgia Healthy Start Project Director, Jennifer Barkin, moderated an allstar panel of women’s health experts this week in conjunction with Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health and SALA series. The discussion touched on various women’s health topics including childbirth, fertility, menopause, and the effects of Hurricane Helene on mothers, fathers, and children. Way to go Dr. Barkin!
