As an accounting student at FAMU where he has been named Deputy Comptroller for the Student Government Association, Treasurer of the Omega Xi Chapter of AKPSI, Inc. Professional Business Fraternity, House Cleaning Supervisor for the Smith-Tyner Scholarship House, and Bright Futures Scholarship Award recipient, Jerome remains dedicated to his pursuit of excellence. Recently, he received an accounting internship offer at KPMG for Summer 2025—this milestone will be significant for him in his professional career while propelling him forward for future opportunities. Since 1955 Southern Scholarship Foundation has helped thousands of students with outstanding academic abilities, good character and financial need realize their dream of a college education. Qualified students attending Florida A&M University, Florida Gulf Coast University, Florida State University, Santa Fe College, Tallahassee Community College, or University of Florida are awarded scholarships in the form of rent-free, cooperative living housing adjacent to their campus. Beyond rent-free housing, SSF is a living and learning community. The cooperative living program fosters leadership and instills essential life, professional, and leadership skills.

On September 19, Southern Scholarship Foundation hosted an alumni reunion in Tallahassee, FL. Residents from SSF’s past and present mingled and reminisced favorite stories of their time at their scholarship houses in an evening filled with great laughs and restored connections. Thank you very much to everyone who attended and to SSF Development Officer, Brian Marquez, for organizing an amazing night, as well as Neil Maldonado—House Manager of Mode Stone Scholarship House—for a lovely speech and personal insight into the impact that SSF has on its residents’ growth. Lastly, a huge thanks to Publix Super Markets Charities for sponsoring the event.

Through the partnership between Eda and Cliff Viner Community Scholars and Southern Scholarship Foundation, Philipp Belyaev received rent-free housing in addition to the mentoring and assistance as a Viner Scholar. Congratulations on graduating debt-free, Phillip!
Congratulations to Viner Scholar Philipp Belyaev! Philipp graduated a year early from FSU with a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics. He plans on furthering his education by attending a graduate program next Fall. He will be working for the State of Florida as a healthcare analyst. Passionate about renewable initiatives, Philipp has worked as a bicycle mechanic at FSU Sustainable Campus to help students maintain sustainable means of transportation. When asked about his experience as a Viner Scholar, Philipp said: "I am incredibly grateful to the Viner Foundation for granting me the unique opportunity to attend college debt-free, thus allowing me to explore various academic interests without worrying about finances. I am also thankful for my wonderful mentor, who supported me throughout college and was always ready to offer his advice when I needed it."

Natalia Sanchez from the ADK Scholarship House in Tallahassee is a recent graduate of Florida State University's Public Health program. During her residence at Southern Scholarship Foundation, Natalia served as House Manager for her scholarship house as well as a Student Affairs Assistant for SSF's North Florida office. She is #succeSSFul because after graduation, she will be working at the Florida Department of Health as a Biological Scientist, serving in the Florida Birth Defects Registry as an Epidemiologist. In the future, Natalia hopes to obtain a position at the Center for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta, Georgia. We wish you all the best, Natalia!
