Lynn Arnold, a trailblazer in midwifery, began her journey in 1975, assisting women in crisis following Roe vs Wade. She's experienced an array of birth situations, including international deliveries. In 1985, her dream of a freestanding birth center came to life in El Paso, offering affordable care and midwifery training. Lynn's dedication also led to a Texas-approved midwifery curriculum and consultation for international midwifery programs. Guiding women to make informed choices forms her birth philosophy. Sadly, the building that was once her birth center was taken over by Planned Parenthood, so she now brings her expertise to the Southwest Coalition, helping broaden childbirth support at Guiding Star Southwest, allowing Borderland women to experience faith-aligned, life-affirming care. Senator David Gallegos is a stalwart champion of life and the values of the Southwest Coalition for Life. Serving his community on a school board for 21 years, moving on to become the first Hispanic elected to the New Mexico House of Representatives for District 61, David's compassionate commitment to public service shines. A tragic incident led to his instrumental role in establishing Safe Haven boxes across New Mexico, providing mothers in crisis a secure option and saving lives. His unwavering advocacy for pro-life policies, including the Sanctuary City for the Unborn ordinance, has significant legal and moral implications, culminating in a landmark Supreme Court case. His personal chivalry shines through his family-focused approach and his passionate defense of traditional values. Balancing family values and political duty, David supports initiatives like our mobile ultrasound bus and comprehensive women's healthcare. His dedication to life, defense of the vulnerable, and advocacy for authentic womanhood are perfectly aligned with our mission, and we are honored to present our Champion of Chivalry Award to Senator David Gallegos, a true champion in the fight for the sanctity of life.
