    Today, we proudly celebrate 20 years since the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) approved and designated Southwest Power Pool (SPP) as a Regional Transmission Organization (RTO). With over 83 years of success and two decades officially as an RTO, SPP has been dedicated to ensuring reliable and affordable electricity transmission across our region. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to our members, stakeholders, and partners who have been instrumental in our longstanding journey.

    Brooke Keene, a Senior Engineer at SPP, recently attended the 2024 Association of Power Exchanges (APEX) Conference in Santiago, Chile. Selected as a Bright Sparks Program scholarship winner, Brooke was one of only three individuals invited to attend this event. Help us congratulate Brooke, on her outstanding accomplishment.     SPP is proud to announce multiple promotions in our legal and engineering areas as well as the retirement of an industry veteran. Michael Desselle, vice president and chief compliance and administrative officer, announced he will retire from SPP effective January 2, 2025. Mike Riley, SPP senior director and deputy general counsel, has been promoted to fill Desselle’s position as vice president, corporate services and chief compliance officer, effective October 1. Chris Nolen and Tessie Kentner, each have been named associate general counsel, coinciding with Riley's promotion, effective October 1.
