SPARK at Stanford is a translational research program with over 13 years of success translating academic biomedical discoveries from laboratory to patient care. Since its founding in 2006 at Stanford University, the program has graduated 117 programs, of which 43 were licensed to startup companies, 13 licensed to existing companies, and 17 in clinical trials, amounting to a success rate of 62%. Through a unique combination of mentorship and financial support, the program shepherds exciting academic discoveries through preclinical discovery hand in hand with over 200 volunteer industry advisers and seed funding to reach exciting outcomes. SPARK’s program provides access to specialized knowledge and technical expertise regarding drug and diagnostic development to bridge the gap from bench to bedside.
SPARK GLOBAL is a network of academic institutions and organizations around the world that have adopted the translational research model pioneered by SPARK at Stanford. SPARK GLOBAL comprises over 60 institutions in 23 countries with hundreds of translational programs that transcend borders.
