Spectrum Aeromed reposted this
Exciting innovations in patient care are happening over here! Check out our latest news at the link below. A big thank you goes out to Spectrum Aeromed for helping us achieve this incredible, first-of-its-kind air medical advancement. "Life Flight Network intends to outfit its entire fleet of Pilatus PC-12s with liquid oxygen in the coming years; yet another example of the not-for-profit's continued reinvestment in its fleet, staff, and community. Retrofitting the entire fleet will be costly and the organization warmly welcomes community support through the Life Flight Network Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit established in 2009 to provide critical financial support to their mission services. We’re excited to see our equipment being utilized to train medical professionals for real-world scenarios—both in the air and on the ground!
Consultant in Critical Care and Adviser in Aerospace Medicine and Patient Transport & Retrieval at Aeromed GB
Realism in clinical scenario simulation training is key to ensuring that skills learned are transferrable to the aeromedical transport environment. Creating confined spaces in a sim centre is a useful method for providing low fidelity teaching of scenarios that are more often (but less usefully) taught in a classroom, such as CPR and ACLS/ALS skills. Simply by the addition of cabin-like interior fittings and furnishings we can elevate the experience to one that is higher in fidelity. Clearly, using the same equipment and consumables in the scenarios as are used in reality inevitably enhances and consolidates the learning experience. These opinions are well known to those of us that often train with high fidelity equipment, and is borne out by decades of experience of pilots in training. However, if you don't have the luxury of such resources, don't forget that simple imagination can elevate a low fidelity scenario and bring added value to the training. Here are some great photos of the excellent training capabilities at the BDMS Medevac Center in Bangkok Hospital. Thank you to the nurses, doctors and managers at the Medevac Center for the valuable and wonderful training opportunity which was enthusiastically enjoyed by all our students.
