Changing the lives of underrepresented high school and college students through the sports business.

About us

SPORTS BIZ CAREERS MISSION IS TO CHANGE THE LIVES OF UNDERREPRESENTED HIGH SCHOOL AND COLLEGE STUDENTS THROUGH THE SPORTS BUSINESS. IT'S ALL ABOUT AWARENESS, ACCESS, AND ACCELERATION. Our On-Ramp programming supports high school students by connecting them to industry professionals to learn more about career pathways in sports while also gathering information in order to make an informed college decision. The Off-Ramp programming supports college students by helping them building social capital. Students interact directly with industry professionals learning how to navigate the college to career transition and seeking assistance to open up the door for entry level employment in the highly competitive sports & entertainment industry. ALL of SBC's programs are fully funded by donors and sponsors -- the #1 rule of SBC is no student ever pays!

📣2024 Cast Iron Media Summer Fellowship Recap 📣 🌟 Our fellow, Benjamin Pearce, has immersed himself in the exciting world of sports business within Cast Iron Media. Throughout his fellowship experience, Ben was able to rotate in various departments within Cast Iron Media and explore 7 local organizations! 🔎 Thank you to those who opened their doors for Benjamin to learn more about your pathway and your organization: Adebola Adeleye, Brooklyn Nets (Former Cast Iron Media 2023 Fellow) Vanessa Taveras, IMG Academy Elizabeth Sanchez, Wasserman Mike Taylor, National Basketball Association (NBA) Nick skipper, NASCAR Brent Simmons City Football Group Brooke Steinberg Excel Sports Management 🗨 What has been the most satisfying part of your experience? 💬 "The most satisfying part of this internship has been connecting and getting to know the people here at cast iron while collaborating and helping them out on assignments. Every time that I worked with someone, we had some sort of conversation before or during where we got to know each other. Even though this is a smaller thing, everyone showed that they truly cared to make sure I felt welcomed and people were always open to giving advice & answering questions. I also really enjoyed working with Hannah on assignments and getting to be creative as we approached each assignment. The last thing I would say is that it was awesome to eat lunch with a few other people in my last week and I feel like I was able to build stronger connections there." 🗨 What was your favorite project/assignments? 💬 "Some of my favorite assignments were helping marketing with their one-sheets and coming up with creative blurbs to capture the attention of brands and encourage them to advertise through Cast Iron. My final assignment was conducting research and helping put together a deck on how we could use Gemini AI. Overall, I look forward to seeing the results!" 💜 Thank you to the Cast Iron Media team for your continued support! Trent Staley Dianna Delaney Ashley Shea Evan Keefe Phil Ottaviano Tim Stich Todd Rosenbluth Caroline Heyman Kaitlyn Bruce 💫 Best wishes to Benjamin as he returns to Emory University - Goizueta Business School + excited to see all you accomplish next!

Nowadays, it is almost effortless to get caught up in comparison with others, but it’s important to know that your path is YOUR path for a reason. This industry is non-linear in every individual’s path, and this just show you how much so! Stay true to to you and your plan, and do not worry what others are doing in front of you or beside you. Where you are right now is exactly where you need to be." ✨ Stay tuned for more updates and highlights of our partner organizations!

🔔 2024 CLT FELLOWSHIP UDPATE 🔔 As part of the Fellowship Program, the entire cohort participates in weekly site visits with each partner organization where they learn directly from the industry professionals on their career path and gain advice on how to navigate a career path and gain on how to navigate a career in sports. 📍 This weeks' site visit was with Elevate 💜Thank you to the Elevate team for hosting our fellows + supporting our mission. Vica Bondurant, Jordan Galligan, Jimmy Bruns, Taylor France, Greg Petorak, Samantha Baier, Cole Koeniguer, Tony Swegle, Cameron Labbato Gavin Broome is the Elevate Fellow this summer, working hand in hand with their Brand and Partnerships departments! 💡 Hear from our Fellows, Chloe Castain and Kayla Hoch, on how this experience impacted them: Chloe: "We had an amazing time at Elevate! Everyone was personable, excited to share their experience, and all wanted to help us succeed in our careers. My main takeaway from Elevate is the importance of working as a team, and uplifting those around you. ‘Our people are our superpower’ and it’s so important to lean on and trust your team to deliver the best product or service possible. Additionally, research is respect! Knowing your interviewer and the company you are interviewing with is incredibly important, and shows that you care and are willing to go that extra step to help you stand out." Kayla: "I really enjoyed the panel and them talking about the different routes we can take within sports business, not everyone has to be a sports business major or go to grad school to be a part of sports. It gave me a lot of reassurance that even though I did not major in sports, I am still in the right place, I also really enjoyed them telling us to learn how to have a positive attitude even when things aren’t going your way, and to keep pushing through." ✨ Stay tuned for more updates and highlights of our partner organizations!
