NBC Olympics’ operations for the Paris 2024 games were a genuine transatlantic operation, with production teams throughout France and at NBC’s Stamford, CT, Broadcast Operations Center (BOC) tied together by a supercharged web of connectivity. Add NBCU’s plethora of stateside facilities beyond Stamford and it’s clear how much transmission firepower NBC Sports had at its disposal for these Games. In this exclusive, in-depth presentation, NBC Sports’ VP, BOC and Transmission Operations Ian Kuchta and Senior Manager, Transmission Engineering and Operations Eric Poellot offer an inside look at they pulled it all off. 🏅 : https://lnkd.in/eK8SSdH7

“Whip-around” studio shows are becoming more common in live sports these days, however, none may be as fast-paced as what ESPN produced in "NHL Frozen Frenzy". On October 22, all 32 teams in the National Hockey League (NHL) were in action in a rare quirk in the schedule. To celebrate the occasion, ESPN partnered with the league to host live studio coverage on ESPN2 and ESPN+ taking fans around to all 16 games throughout the night. On the latest episode of SVG Rewind, ESPN’s Managing Producer Kevin Davies joins us to break down what it was like to produce the show, what roles are needed to pull off something like this, what was learned along the way, and much more. Two of the biggest trends in the live sports production industry are REMI/remote production and live production in the cloud. When those two meet; some major innovation happens. The ability to have hardware compute exist in the cloud as opposed to being at the venue or even in a remote production hub promises to increase the popularity of remote workflows. In this panel discussion, sports production professionals and cloud service providers discuss how cloud-based production services will open up new ways to produce sports content. This conversation includes: Devin Klein, FOX Sports, Senior Manager, Broadcast Operations Joshua Liemer, NEP VISTA Worldlink, President Gregory Macchia, RIEDEL Communications, VP, Business Development, Live Production Adam Marshall, Grass Valley, Chief Product Officer This session was hosted at the 2024 SVG Remote Production Forum on Sept. 26 in Concord, NC, and was moderated by Trevor Covey, Deloitte Consulting, Specialist Master – Sr. Tech Architect. ☁️ : https://lnkd.in/esSUJPVe

It's been a big season for Thursday Night Football on Prime Video & Amazon MGM Studios: ratings on the climb, better games, and new on-screen graphics enhancing the live game broadcast. While this is the third full season of Prime Video exclusively streaming TNF, many key members of the production crew have been a part of delivering live NFL football on Thursday nights to viewers for many years, including MICHAEL MURIANO, Executive Producer, Live Sports at Prime Video. Our Brandon Costa sat down with Muriano to get a behind-the-scenes breakdown of how the 2024 campaign has gone so far, what new production tools and toys are enhancing the game broadcast, how the "Prime Vision with Next Gen Stats" alternate feed is both a fun way to consume a game and an incubator of elements that may make it to the primary broadcast, what it’s like to operate on such a different schedule from the rest of the league’s broadcasters, and what’s to come the remainder of the season. A bicoastal World Series between two giants in Major League Baseball (MLB) has been an advantageous scenario for FOX Sports. Wednesday night’s Game 5 at Yankee Stadium may send this series back to Dodgers Stadium, but the first four games have included numerous storylines. From live musical performances and honoring Dodgers legend Fernando Valenzuela to Freddie Freeman’s walk-off grand slam in Game 1 in Los Angeles and Anthony Volpe’s go-ahead grand slam in Game 4 in the Bronx, the national broadcaster is leaning on their technological planning and operations team to bring these moments to the viewing audience. Prior to Tuesday night’s Game 4 of the 2024 World Series, FOX Sports’ SVP, Technical and Field Operations, Michael Davies, detailed how their crew feels comfortable working from two venues with very different setups, how workflows and technologies have allowed their production team to shine throughout this series, and how they’ve pivoted to cover on-field activations without much preparation.

Dodgers Stadium and Yankee Stadium are perfect locales for any Fall Classic, but in 2024, the environments surrounding these locations are being accentuated by a pair of drones in the sky. Beverly Hills Aerials , the cinematic drone company that has become a trusted production partner of FOX Sports, have captured the crowds inside these two venerable venues as well as the skylines and views of Los Angeles at sunset in Games 1 and 2 and nighttime in New York City during Games 3 and 4. Prior to Tuesday night's Game 4 of the 2024 World Series, Beverly Hills Aerials' drone pilot Kal Reifsnyder and camera operator Majd Mazin spotlighted the equipment that they're using during this championship series, how logistics differ between the cities on both coasts, and the feedback they've received from the domestic broadcaster, Major League Baseball, and fans watching from home.

We're back with another edition of SVG All-Stars! Our interview series spotlights the new generation of behind-the-scenes sports production and operations pros. Many people deserve applause for the unprecedented growth of women’s sports in the U.S. As it pertains to broadcast, put Dana Rubin on that list. The rise of women’s professional club soccer in America can be traced through many twists and turns, but, very often, Rubin has been a familiar face at the front bench of the production truck. After cutting her teeth as a producer for Major League Baseball (MLB) for 12 years at the start of her career, Rubin shifted to soccer, sitting in the producer’s chair for National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) games on Lifetime Television beginning in 2017 and subsequently becoming league director of broadcast and content in early 2020. In March 2022, she changed leagues and became VP of Media at the growing United Soccer League (USL). Shortly thereafter, she helped launch the USL W League, a pre-professional women’s league, and, this past summer, played a key role in the founding of USL Super League, a Division I professional women’s soccer league whose matches stream on Peacock. In this week’s edition of SVG All-Stars, learn Rubin’s story, discover what industry innovations she has her eye on, and get her advice on how to break in and thrive in live sports production. ⚽ : https://lnkd.in/egp3TwXr
