Sensitive Research Network

Thought I'd replug the Sensitive Research Network! 💡 What is it? It's a research network for PhD students in the midlands who are undertaking sensitive or emotionally demanding research across the social sciences. 💭 What does it involve? That's up to our members, we have monthly meetings typically hybrid based at the University of Birmingham. Our discussions are relevant to our topics, they range from discussing individual issues or concerns that have been raised to more general readings that we find useful. ℹ What is the goal? The goal is to create a network of PhD students to share information and knowledge and to create a welcoming space in a peer-led informal setting! I wrote an article for The British Psychological Society’s The Psychologist! 📝 The article entails how I perceive stigma to operate within mental health services, shaping care pathways and reinforcing inequalities. I explore how these challenges can become a catalyst for transformative change and how I hope to be a part of this transformation through my PhD and business ConnectedCulture. Systemic bias and outdated perceptions have no place in modern mental health care, it’s time to push for policies that prioritize equity, dignity, and culturally sensitive care!
