Earlier this week, sshape teamed up with Bialek Environments to give back to the local community through volunteering at the DC Central Kitchen. We prepared food items for those in need, providing healthy lunches to underserved schools in the DMV. Our team diligently peeled butternut squash, chopped collard greens, and diced kale, contributing to the overall effort of combating hunger and poverty in the surrounding area. DC Central Kitchen provides hands-on culinary job training for individuals facing high barriers to employment while creating living wage jobs and bringing nutritious, dignified food where it is most needed. We’re proud to contribute and support DCCK’s vital work in the city! 

We’re incredibly grateful for the exceptional work and enthusiasm our summer intern, Yasmin Childs, brought to sshape this year. Her constant dedication and positive attitude were a great addition to our team. From Revit to library organization, Yasmin tackled every challenge with a can-do spirit.   Yasmin, a talented interior design student at the College for Creative Studies in Detroit, is driven by the power of design to create meaningful and impactful spaces. Inspired by her family, she has witnessed firsthand the transformative role design plays in shaping communities. We’re excited to see where her passion takes her!   As she returns to Michigan, we want to extend a huge thank you for her hard work this summer and hope she has a fantastic school year!

Check out sshape’s recent renovation to 950 N Glebe in Arlington, VA! The upgraded amenity space features a central hub, complete with coffee bar and flexible seating areas coupled with multi-purpose meetings rooms. This renovation seamlessly blends the beauty of Virginia’s natural landscapes with the intimacy of a high-end boutique hotel, creating a cohesive and welcoming atmosphere for both tenants and guests. The project also included a refresh of the building's exterior facade and lobby to ensure a consistent aesthetic from the street to the main retail floor. Additionally, the project features a state-of-the-art fitness center and modern restroom facilities. sshape's design of this 30,000 RSF LEED Silver nonprofit in Arlington, VA, aligns seamlessly with the organization's global mission to address social, agricultural, and environmental challenges. sshape designers used a palette of earth tones and neutrals to represent landscapes of countries where the client is engaged, accenting the neutrals with the nonprofit’s bold corporate colors in design elements including backsplash tiles and felt wallcoverings. Powerful graphics and imagery integrated throughout the space further communicate the organization's commitment to global impact. sshape's design of The Cadmus Group's 42,000 square-foot Arlington, VA office prioritizes wellness and amenity creation. The space offers employees flexibility with a variety of work settings, all featuring natural light and abundant greenery. The central hub, showcasing the interconnecting stair, is a welcoming retreat for relaxation and informal work. Equipped with a coffee bar (including nitro coffee) and a pool table, this area provides a refreshing escape. Flexibility is key. These thoughtfully designed spaces offer employees and guests a haven for quiet, concentrated work. Our flex/focus rooms feature ergonomic furniture to ensure comfort during video calls and provide a space for heads-down work. While some rooms include lounge seating, others may be outfitted with a desk surface, monitor, and camera.   We believe in designing workspaces that cater to every need. #sshape #wesshape #interiordesign

sshape doubled down on celebrating Pride Month by attending two events with MillerKnoll and Price Modern | Haworth. But it wasn't just about attending – we were thrilled to make significant donations to LGBTQ organizations in the DMV area, including SMYAL and The Wanda Alston Foundation . Taking action even further, our very own Preeti Reddy, IIDA generously donated a custom piece from lekkalaLab to help sponsor and raise additional funds. This exemplifies sshape's commitment to Pride that goes beyond words. At sshape, Pride isn't just a month-long celebration. It's woven into the very fabric of our work, mission, and values.
