About us

Founded in 1906 by two local physicians, St. Mary’s became a Catholic hospital in 1938 operated by the Missionary Sisters of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus and later sponsored by the Sisters of Mercy. Today, St. Mary’s Health Care System is a regional not-for-profit Catholic teaching healthcare system inclusive of three hospitals, St. Mary’s Medical Group, Graduate Medical Education, Home Health, Hospice Services, Senior Living, extensive outpatient services, auxiliary/volunteer services and clinical affiliations with the University of Georgia/Augusta University. Below this main text, there's a smaller caption in white that reads "VACCINES + PHYSICALS." Surrounding the text are various white line icons related to school and childhood, including a soccer ball, a backpack, a set of numbers (123), a rocket, a book, and a pair of sneakers. The overall design suggests themes of preparation for the academic year with an emphasis on health and education.

  • We are pleased to share that St. Mary's and UnitedHealthcare have reached a new multi-year agreement! Patients with UHC commercial or Medicare Advantage products once again have in-network access to St. Mary's Hospital and Home Health Care/Hospice Services, as well as our outpatient facilities and services. Thank you for your patience and support as we worked to reach a fair agreement with UHC. You may once again schedule appointments and seek care at St. Mary's as normal. (Quick additional note: St. Mary's Medical Group, Sacred Heart Hospital and Good Samaritan Hospital were not affected by these negotiations and did not go out-of-network.)
