About us
St. Mary of the Mills has the capacity to serve 500 students. We can serve up to two classes of each grade kindergarten through eighth grade. Class size is limited to 25 students in each kindergarten class and 30 students in each of the respective classes. St. Mary’s is unique in that its location in Laurel (northern Prince George’s County) makes it convenient to, and therefore able to serve, Prince George’s County but also Howard, Montgomery, and Anne Arundel Counties. We presently have students from all four counties attending with the largest numbers coming from Prince George’s and Howard Counties.

Today over 160 of our students, staff and, families, gathered at the outdoor atrium of Laurel Library this morning for Ruby Bridges Walk to School Day. As a school we celebrated and remembered the bravery of 1st grader Ruby Bridges who became the first African American student to integrate the US school system on this day 63 years ago. As a school community, we walked a half a mile to SMS to begin the school day. Following our walk students learned more about the legacy of Ruby Bridges and the perseverance she showed in the midst of difficultly in their respective Social Studies class. Last night SMS had our first Fall Festival in nearly 4 years. The event was was highly attended with games, activities, and food for the whole family. It was wonderful not only having our youngest members of the community from Pallotti Early Learning Center join us, but also our eldest members from St. Vincent Pallotti High School come out to volunteers. Thank you to our food truck vendors Flameandcones and El Gran Chile Ta'Carbon for serving our families.
