Our Mission Matters - While shopping for school backpacks for her grandchildren this week, a woman recalled that the very first backpack her daughter used for school was the one she received at a St. Francis Medical Center health fair 16 years ago. St. Francis filled it with school supplies, and her family was so appreciative. In this same spirit, the woman returned to our hospital yesterday. With her she brought four new backpacks brimming with spiral notebooks, paper, composition books, crayons, markers, erasers, and fun stickers. She said she never forgot how much that first backpack meant to her daughter and family, and she asked that we give these backpacks to new families who might need a little extra help as the school year begins. Here's a snapshot from our health fair years ago, and a photo of one of the abundantly-filled backpacks gifted to us. Thank you for your kindness and generosity and for carrying our mission forward. Patient's Family Found - With the help of our St. Francis online community, we were able to locate family members for the patient we posted about last Friday. She was not able to communicate information about her next-of-kin. Thank you for getting the word out for us. Because of you, we have reunited this patient with loved ones. We are grateful for your support.

Saint Francis Medical Center recently broke ground on a New 23 Bed Sub-Acute Unit, New 45 Bed Behavioral Health Unit, and Site Improvements great job PENTA Builders and CA Architects. PHM is committed to our communities.

Help with Finding Patient's Family - We are seeking the community's help with locating the family of one of our patients. She is female, about 98 years old. We believe her name is Maria Perez. She has gray hair and dark brown eyes. She is approximately 4'9" and 85 lbs. She speaks Spanish but is not able to convey information that would assist us with finding her family. If you are a family member of this patient or know how we can reach her next-of-kin, please contact our Social Services Department at (310) 900-8630. After hours and weekends call (310) 900-7586 and ask for Social Services. We hope to connect her to her loved ones soon.
