  • This summer, we welcomed seven interns who worked across our ministry including Our Lady of the Lake, St. Francis Medical Center, St. Dominic Hospital and in our human resources department. Here, we believe in empowering the next generation of healthcare professionals. We have strategic partnerships with local schools, colleges and universities to develop job shadowing opportunities, internship and apprenticeship opportunities that give young people first-hand experience and insight into the careers available in healthcare. • We are proud to have received the American Heart Association’s Get With The Guidelines® - Stroke GoldPlus quality achievement award for our commitment to ensuring stroke patients receive the most appropriate treatment according to nationally recognized, research-based guidelines, ultimately leading to more lives saved and reduced disability. • Congratulations to Yvonne Lewis on being named our July 2024 Franciscan Service Award recipient! Yvonne, pictured in purple scrubs below, has been with St. Francis for over 16 years and currently serves as the clinical service representative for the OB/Post Partum unit. Thank you for living our Mission and Core Values, Yvonne. Some of the comments from her nomination form include: "Yvonne is always willing to go above and beyond to help nurses, supervisors, physicians, families, patients, and all members of the healthcare team. She does anything she can to help team members' day go well by assisting them with whatever they need. She makes patients and families feel warm and welcomed, especially by the way she answers the call button and responds to their needs. She is always willing to listen to people and people trust her. Mothers who have babies in the NICU often stop at Yvonne's desk and tell her how well the baby is or is not doing. Yvonne always takes the time to listen, encourage, and support these mothers and fathers. She is the epitome of all the things that make up a Franciscan Service Award recipient."
