Today I honor the life of Dalin Amber O’Connell, my sister.  July 1st would have been her 42nd birthday. Dalin was a big dreamer, with an even bigger heart and an infectious laugh. She was a devoted mother and spirited entrepreneur who left an indelible mark on us all. Her sudden passing last November serves as a reminder of the fragility of dreams and the relentless spirit required to nurture them. She shouldn’t have died so young. In Dalin’s memory, I've partnered with Start Giving Local, a nonprofit organization I founded to foster community wellness and bridge the equity gap. To honor my sister's memory and support our nonprofit mission we've launched "Dream Big for Dalin". Our campaign goal is to honor her entrepreneurial legacy by supporting similar dreamers ready to change the world: #momprenuers. Not all caregivers are adults. In the U.S., more than 5.4 million children under 18 provide care to family members—and some of them are forced to drop out of school to do so. This is yet more proof that we need a modern caregiving system that makes affordable options available to every family.
