While teaching a leadership course, Jose Jimenez discovered the State Farm independent contractor agent opportunity. Despite being satisfied with his current career, Jose's interest in business ownership sparked when a State Farm agency recruiter attended his class. "What appealed to me the most was the ability to make a positive impact in my community. I grew up in a predominantly Spanish-speaking community, where it was common to not have any concept or knowledge of insurance – I wanted to shift this mindset." In 2011, Jose launched his State Farm agent office in Houston, Texas. "My number one goal is to make sure we treat State Farm customers as if they are our very own 'abuelita' or 'abuelito.' Whether they buy anything is their decision, but we can help educate them about their options. "As a first-generation American citizen and US Air Force veteran, I take pride in serving my community and ensuring that my team does their best to care for customers, one policy at a time." "My inspiration for entrepreneurship was ignited by my father. As the first member of our family to move to the United States without knowing a word of English, he built a life and business from scratch. I appreciate the opportunities and accomplishments I have experienced in my own journey because of it." State Farm independent contractor agent Ivan Huerta, a proud first-generation Latino born in the U.S. and first in his family to graduate college, began his insurance journey assisting Spanish-speaking customers on a sales and service team for a different company. After taking a break from insurance for a few years, Ivan recognized his passion for educating customers and returned as a team member for a local State Farm agent. "Upon discovering the range of products offered by State Farm, I noticed a gap in my community. This inspired me to create a safe environment to support and simplify the complexities of insurance for State Farm customers. "My team and I prioritize education and actively engage in discussions to tailor our services to meet individual needs. It is truly an honor to have the opportunity to make a positive impact in the community I am privileged to serve!" "Growing up in a low-income family of six with Hispanic immigrant parents, I never thought it would be possible for me to have my own business. Seeing firsthand the struggles my family endured, needing translation in places it wasn’t available, I was determined to find my calling to provide that support for other families.” Prior to becoming an agent, served as a team member for a State Farm agent where she enjoyed working with customers from different backgrounds. Assisting customers in her native language brought back childhood memories and emphasized the direct impact she could have on her community. "Every time a child comes into my office to translate for their parents, I know that I am personally making a difference by relieving them of that responsibility. I love being in a career where I can change lives, provide meaning, and fulfill a purpose. “I thank my parents for the work ethic they instilled in me, and my family for the continuous support. I am grateful for this opportunity and proud to be a Latina State Farm agent. " Wishing you continued success, Daisy! Thank you for being a #GoodNeighbor in your community.

As a daughter of Hispanic and Asian immigrants, Jenny Tola grew up in a close-knit family that emphasized hard work, resilience, and the importance of community. Aware of the challenges faced by many immigrant families around financial stability and navigating the complexities of insurance, Jenny saw firsthand how language barriers and lack of access to information could leave families vulnerable. "After obtaining a master’s degree in marketing, I considered various career paths. I was drawn to the idea of working in a field where I could directly impact people’s lives and realized I could do that as a State Farm independent contractor agent. By helping families secure their financial futures, I could provide peace of mind and security – something my own family had worked so hard to achieve." In 2008, Jenny launched her agent office in Chicago, IL. She takes pride in educating State Farm customers, many of whom are from Hispanic or other minority communities. “Being a Spanish speaking State Farm agent allows me to communicate effectively and build trust with customers – an invaluable asset in this career. I encourage my team to share their unique perspectives, fostering a collaborative environment, to provide the best service to customers."
