While teaching a leadership course, Jose Jimenez discovered the State Farm independent contractor agent opportunity. Despite being satisfied with his current career, Jose's interest in business ownership sparked when a State Farm agency recruiter attended his class. "What appealed to me the most was the ability to make a positive impact in my community. I grew up in a predominantly Spanish-speaking community, where it was common to not have any concept or knowledge of insurance – I wanted to shift this mindset." In 2011, Jose launched his State Farm agent office in Houston, Texas. "My number one goal is to make sure we treat State Farm customers as if they are our very own 'abuelita' or 'abuelito.' Whether they buy anything is their decision, but we can help educate them about their options. "As a first-generation American citizen and US Air Force veteran, I take pride in serving my community and ensuring that my team does their best to care for customers, one policy at a time." "It’s rewarding to work for a company that gives back to the community, provides reassurance to customers, and invests in its employees." Levi, talent operations manager, is celebrating his 20th anniversary this month. He reflects on his tenure and the elements that have had a positive impact on his career. "I am a third generation State Farm employee, my loyalty and employer commitment run deep. "I started in the contact center and now I serve analysts in our HR&D department. It's been rewarding to have a long career comprised of a variety of jobs, like a career passport." In addition to leading a team, Levi is actively involved in employee resource groups and serves as an area lead for advocacy for disabilities and education (ADE). "The most rewarding aspect of my career is helping others realize and achieve their dreams. This month is Disability Employment Awareness Month. Our team supports diversity initiatives and programs by championing for the disability community inside and outside of State Farm. In 2018, Cristel Noel began her journey as a State Farm independent contractor agent. Little did she know, her passion for this profession would grow immensely, leading her to open a second office. "My desire to help others came from recognizing a significant lack of insurance knowledge within my predominantly Hispanic community. I witnessed this educational gap first-hand, while working as an agent team member, prior to becoming a State Farm agent." Cristel highlights how the State Farm agent opportunity enables her to deliver exceptional service and extend her reach, helping more State Farm customers in more ways. "I take great pride in being a positive force, using my experiences to support families in need while offering a wide range of products from a top performing company. I have had the privilege of employing 15 team members and get to help hundreds of State Farm customers every year. I love my job and the endless possibilities it provides to contribute to my community." "I was excited to learn that State Farm has translation teams for several languages." Nati, a Spanish translator, provides translations for business partners and Spanish-speaking clients. As a first generation American, she recognizes the importance of Hispanic Heritage Month. "Both of my parents immigrated from Mexico. As a child I often translated information for them. "In my current role, I get to leverage my heritage and passion to assist customers. To me, this demonstrates that State Farm appreciates and respects the diversity of their workforce and clients."
