  • 🚨 Urgent Call to Action for Our Indiana Community 🚨 We at Step Ahead ABA are reaching out with a critical update that could significantly impact the autism community in Indiana. Following our recent updates about similar challenges in Nebraska, it’s clear that involvement in advocacy efforts is crucial as families face these hurdles in multiple states. 🔴 What’s Happening? Indiana Medicaid is proposing changes set to take effect in April 2025 that would drastically limit the support for individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder. These include: A cap on essential services at 30 hours per week. Restricting access to these vital services to just three years. These measures would not only hinder the progress and success of our clients but also increase hardship for their families. Moreover, they threaten to push many dedicated RBTs and BCBAs into unemployment. 📢 How Can You Help? We urge everyone in Indiana to stand with us and take action. Your voice matters and can make a difference! Contact Your Legislators: Visit https://lnkd.in/gDTj_s79 enter your address to find your state representatives, and let them hear your concerns. It’s quick and impactful! Spread the Word: Share this post within your network to amplify our message. The more voices, the stronger our call! 🤝 Join Us in Advocacy This is more than policy; it’s about protecting and supporting our families and ensuring those affected by autism receive the care they deserve. Together, we can make a difference.

  • ❗ Urgent Call to Action: Protect Access to ABA Services in Nebraska ❗ Dear Step Ahead ABA Community, We are reaching out to share important developments that could significantly impact the availability of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) services in Nebraska. Proposed changes by Nebraska Medicaid are set to introduce stringent eligibility criteria for ABA providers, which we believe could disrupt services for many in need. What’s Changing? The new rules would require Registered Behavior Technicians (RBTs) to have a bachelor's degree in a relevant field and at least one year of relevant work experience or further education. These changes could swiftly affect the structure of ABA services statewide and severely limit the pool of qualified technicians to meet the needs of Nebraska families, especially in rural communities. Our Response: Step Ahead is collaborating with fellow providers and the Council of Autism Service Providers to challenge these proposed requirements. We are committed to advocating for the needs of our community and ensuring that these changes do not compromise the availability of crucial ABA services. How You Can Help: We need your voice in this effort. By contacting key decision-makers, you can help ensure that ABA services remain accessible to those who depend on them. Here’s what you can do: Phone Calls: Call Medicaid at 402-741-3121 and the Governor’s office at 402-471-2244. Express your concern about how restricting provider qualifications could limit access to essential ABA services. Email: Reach out to DHHS.MedicaidMHSU@nebraska.gov and jim.pillen@nebraska.gov with your concerns. Personal stories or explanations of the importance of ABA can add significant weight to your messages. Request for More Time: We are advocating for an additional 60 days to the comment period, allowing for a public hearing where the implications of these changes can be fully assessed and discussed by all stakeholders. We believe in the strength of our community and the importance of accessible and effective ABA services. Your involvement is crucial in safeguarding the integrity and accessibility of ABA services in Nebraska. Thank you for your support and action.    The Step Ahead ABA Team
