“𝙇𝙚𝙖𝙧𝙣 𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙮𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙘𝙖𝙣.” 𝗗𝗮𝘃𝗶𝗱 & 𝗝𝗼𝘀𝗵 𝗣𝗮𝗰𝗸𝗮𝗿𝗱: 𝗗𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗦𝗽𝗮𝗻𝘀 𝗚𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 David Packard began his career with Stewart & Tate Construction in 1976 as a laborer. He recalls his first days on the job running a jackhammer with a crew installing telephone duct in York. It didn’t take long for the company leadership to recognize David’s commitment and dedication. From there, a career journey that would span multiple roles and generations was set into motion. David soon moved to an in-demand crew responsible for building bridges and was then promoted to foreman and site superintendent. His career journey at Stewart & Tate spanned four decades and inspired his son Josh to pursue his own goal of becoming an operator on a construction team. Josh followed in his dad’s footsteps, starting out as a laborer with Stewart & Tate in 2004 with a steadfast focus on learning to become an operator. That first year, the father and son duo had their initial opportunity to work side-by-side. “𝘋𝘢𝘥 𝘸𝘢𝘴 𝘢 𝘴𝘪𝘵𝘦 𝘴𝘶𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘪𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘯𝘥𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘰𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘊𝘢𝘳𝘭𝘪𝘴𝘭𝘦 𝘏𝘰𝘴𝘱𝘪𝘵𝘢𝘭 𝘫𝘰𝘣 𝘪𝘯 2004, 𝘸𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦 𝘐 𝘸𝘰𝘳𝘬𝘦𝘥 𝘥𝘶𝘳𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘮𝘺 𝘧𝘪𝘳𝘴𝘵 𝘺𝘦𝘢𝘳 𝘪𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘱𝘢𝘯𝘺,” 𝘑𝘰𝘴𝘩 𝘳𝘦𝘤𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘴. “𝘞𝘦 𝘴𝘱𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘯𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘭𝘺 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺 𝘥𝘢𝘺 𝘵𝘰𝘨𝘦𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘳 𝘢 𝘺𝘦𝘢𝘳 𝘥𝘳𝘪𝘷𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘰 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘧𝘳𝘰𝘮 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘫𝘰𝘣𝘴𝘪𝘵𝘦 𝘪𝘯 𝘢 𝘴𝘪𝘯𝘨𝘭𝘦 𝘤𝘢𝘣 𝘵𝘳𝘶𝘤𝘬. 𝘐 𝘭𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘯𝘦𝘥 𝘢 𝘭𝘰𝘵 𝘥𝘶𝘳𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘵𝘪𝘮𝘦.”   Just like his father, Josh has been driven to grow his knowledge and experience. After his start as a laborer, he dug in and was rewarded with the opportunity to operate a variety of equipment, deploy a wide range of technology, and gain experience across a variety of projects. Today, his 20+ year career path has led him to project management, where he is able to apply all his experiences gained in the field and all his father’s teachings to help bring jobs to successful completion.   Josh credits the opportunity to learn from his dad and many other mentors he had the good fortune to work alongside as part of the Stewart & Tate team as a key factor in his career growth. “𝘓𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘯 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘤𝘢𝘯.” 𝘋𝘢𝘷𝘪𝘥’𝘴 𝘢𝘥𝘷𝘪𝘤𝘦 𝘵𝘰 𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘴𝘰𝘯 𝘪𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘴𝘢𝘮𝘦 𝘯𝘰𝘸 𝘢𝘴 𝘪𝘵 𝘸𝘢𝘴 𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘳 20 𝘺𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘴 𝘢𝘨𝘰 𝘸𝘩𝘦𝘯 𝘩𝘦 𝘧𝘪𝘳𝘴𝘵 𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘦𝘥 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘧𝘪𝘦𝘭𝘥. “𝘐’𝘮 𝘪𝘯𝘤𝘳𝘦𝘥𝘪𝘣𝘭𝘺 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘶𝘥 𝘰𝘧 𝘴𝘦𝘦𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘢𝘭𝘭 𝘑𝘰𝘴𝘩 𝘩𝘢𝘴 𝘢𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘥,” 𝘋𝘢𝘷𝘪𝘥 𝘳𝘦𝘧𝘭𝘦𝘤𝘵𝘴. Today, we’re honored to introduce Tom A., Finance Manager at Stewart & Tate Construction, and highlight some of the ways he steadfastly gives back to help support organizations that seek to improve the lives of the people they serve. Aligning his life priorities of God, family, and community to his volunteerism, Tom serves on the boards and committees of several nonprofits that focus on health and religion, such as Byrnes Health Education, Women's Care Center, and St. Lawrence Catholic Church. “The organizations I am a part of allow me to serve God, help improve the lives of families, and build stronger communities,” he shares. As pictured here, Tom (back left) also dedicates his time as a youth soccer coach with the York Youth Soccer League. Partnering with his brother (back right) to help coach his son and nephew’s U8 soccer team brings particular joy, and he recalls the first win of the season in the spring league this year as a memorable moment he treasures.
