ICYMI: The $24.5 million sale of the former Metairie Towers Condominiums closed earlier this month with Stone Pigman serving as counsel for over 200 sellers as well as the condominium association. The sale was the first of its kind under a new Louisiana partition law and required a team of transactional and litigation lawyers. Our work included a bench trial in June that was part of a complex, multi-faceted process to authorize the marketing and sale and transfer clear title to the purchaser. In addition to blazing a trail through a new legal landscape, the Stone Pigman team worked closely with the real estate broker to help manage a months-long bidding and selection process for potential buyers, which resulted in the sale price that was $2 million over the property's appraised value. Scott Whittaker, Ed Bukaty, Will Mizell and John Myles comprised the transactional team for this matter along with litigation attorneys Dorothy Wimberly and Fritz Metzinger.

We were proud to sponsor ACC Louisiana - Association of Corporate Counsel's October CLE Luncheon. Stone Pigman attorneys Peter Thomson, Paul Masinter, and Michael Walshe led the presentation "The Basics: What to Do When You Receive a Government Subpoena." The members of the Louisiana Chapter would like to thank Gold Sponsor Stone Pigman Walther Wittmann L.L.C. and Member Peter Thomson, Member and Litigation Section Head Paul Masinter and Member and Chair of the Management Committee Michael Walshe for their engaging recent CLE presentation "The Basics: What to Do When You Receive a Government Subpoena" held in the Boardroom at the Windsor Court Hotel in New Orleans. While attendees enjoyed a delicious lunch, the presenters shared multiple war stories from their respective practices, cross-referencing redacted versions of U.S. Grand Jury Subpoenas (and accompanying documentation) received by their clients. In their interactive presentation, they explained how to distinguish between a Grand Jury versus an Administrative Subpoena, provided insight on formulating a response and discussed nuances relevant to the in-house attorney advisor in maintaining attorney-client privilege. The attendees were given the opportunity to ask questions and learn by example. The members would also like to thank Megan Porter for her help with planning the event. Are you in-house in Louisiana? Contact this page for more information about how you can obtain your required 8.5 hours of *in-person* CLE instruction with monthly CLE presentations tailored to the in-house practitioner. #inhousecounsel Association of Corporate Counsel

When he's not representing clients in transactional matters, Stone Pigman Business Section Head David Rieveschl can be found outside the office participating in triathlons. He recently placed third in his age group at the 2024 River Roux Olympic Triathlon. It was a great event supporting the RocketKidz Foundation, a nonprofit dedicated to empowering youth and serving the community through sports.
