Rate optimization—the process of reducing cloud spend by choosing the right pricing models and discounts—is a highly effective, low-effort strategy that offers immediate returns. However, rate optimization is just one of many tools organizations can reach for in pursuit of comprehensive cloud cost control. Kubernetes resource (or workload) optimization holds the key to long-term cloud efficiency gains, but it requires navigating some technical challenges in order to unlock the major potential savings. In this blog, Erwin Daria digs into the basics of resource optimization, why it’s so important, and how machine learning and automation help overcome the challenges. 🔗 Check it out: https://lnkd.in/emzBgu6x

🤔 Why don't more people optimize Kubernetes resources? Despite its importance, resource optimization is often seen as the least glamorous part of cloud cost management. Why? Erwin Daria discusses that and more in this blog. Check it out 👇 https://lnkd.in/emzBgu6x #cloudcostmanagement #rateoptimization #kubernetesrightsizing #kubernetesresourcemanagement #kubernetes

We've seen firsthand how combining pod and node rightsizing increases Kubernetes efficiency. In our experience helping users achieve pod efficiencies with Optimize Live, we often see Karpenter setups that leave users missing out on potential node efficiencies. We're now offering a free 60-minute analysis of how your organization can best use Karpenter. Our Karpenter experts will work with you to: 🩺 Diagnose issues or errors by testing various scenarios live (like reducing churn by changing how reserved resources are set) 👀 Look at using features like disruption budgets, and taints and tolerations for optimization opportunities ❓ Get technical questions answered about CPU and memory configurations specific to your environments You can take advantage of this service directly from the Amazon Web Services (AWS) marketplace ➡️ https://lnkd.in/ec9uEYSb

The right autoscaling strategy starts with right profiling your applications. When thinking about Karpenter this is even more important, since Karpenter will scale Nodes based on your pending pods, considering the resource requests, what we call an application first auto scaling. StormForge provides a solutions to help you right size your workloads and save costs with your apps, aligned with Karpenter is a very powerful strategy.

Lots of great 🧠 takeaways from this discussion about the Kubernetes Resource Model. Check it out 👇
Brian Grant, CTO of ConfigHub and former tech lead on Google's Borg team discusses the Kubernetes Resource Model (KRM) and its profound impact on the Kubernetes ecosystem. He explains how KRM's resource-centric API patterns enable Kubernetes' flexibility and extensibility and influence the entire cloud native landscape. You will learn: - How the Kubernetes API evolved from inconsistency to a uniform structure, enabling support for thousands of resource types. - Why Kubernetes' self-describing resources and Server-side Apply simplify client implementations and configuration management. - The evolution of Kubernetes configuration tools like Helm, Kustomize, and GitOps solutions. - Current trends and future directions in Kubernetes configuration, including potential AI-driven enhancements. Watch it here: https://kube.fm/krm-brian 🌟 This episode is sponsored by StormForge.
