    ✨ NEW EPISODE ✨ Episode #130 - From Rookie to Rockstar: Randy Wild's Journey to Becoming a Top STR Investor On this episode of The Vacation Rental Revolution Podcast, Shawn Moore Meets with Randy Wild, a seasoned short-term rental investor with a background in construction, has extensive experience and a long history in the construction industry. His journey into short-term rental investing began with a significant background in construction, starting from building a six-family apartment complex at the age of 20, followed by venturing into spec houses and a fire and water restoration company. Randy's interest in short-term rental investing grew after a vacation in Navarre, Florida, where he saw the opportunity for large rental properties catering to multigenerational families, which were lacking in the area. As a result, he made the decision to build a nine-bed, ten-bath, 5000 square foot rental property specifically designed for the short-term rental market. When it comes to the decision of building from scratch versus buying existing properties, Randy emphasized the advantage of building from scratch, allowing for the design of the layout to maximize the guest experience and occupancy, catering specifically to the target audience. In terms of location, he mentioned that although lots were available, there were challenges with building on the beach and the increasing cost of beachfront lots. Timelines were crucial for Randy, especially in timing the build-out to ensure readiness for the spring and summer rental season. He worked closely with the builder and the bank to set a schedule and secure a construction loan, emphasizing the importance of having the property furnished, with photos taken, and ready for bookings before the peak rental season.     I don't know how to say this nicely. Most of you do not have a PLAN and it shows. 🙄 Let me be very clear. "getting into the vacation home game" or "getting into our first this year and seeing how it goes", are TERRIBLE ideas. "we're trying ___ out but right now we're dealing with ____" is a TERRIBLE way to run your life. I get it. You're taking action + that's good. But vacation home investing isn't a fun thing to do on the side guys. This is your future. IF YOU DO THIS RIGHT YOU CAN ACQUIRE FINANCIAL FREEDOM IN 5 YEARS. If you do this wrong, it's another time-sucking activity that can either be "okay" for your money but didn't help you in the time game, or it can be a disaster of a money and time pit. I've been financially free for a decade, because I don't mess around when it comes to my family's future. I have a portfolio of properties that pays for my lifestyle no matter what happens in my business or with my active income. If you're a high achiever, you need to establish this security for yourself, so you can show up better for your family and your world. If you make great money and know how to make things happen and you're still stressing about taxes and bills and missing key events in your kid's lives, you need to get serious. You work your ass off for your active income. More importantly, you lose time every single year of your life. We all get one day closer to dying every day. 🚨IF YOU ARE GOING TO INVEST HARD-EARNED MONEY IN A VACATION HOME, YOU NEED TO GET SERIOUS ABOUT WHAT YOU ARE DOING. I see people buy a vacation home the wrong way, spend hundreds of hours on it the wrong way, deal with countless problems, have terrible numbers at the end of the year, and then have the audacity to say things like "vacation homes don't work". This is like going to the gym, walking around on an elliptical, throwing around a few free weights, not tracking your calories or protein intake, doing this repeatedly for a year, making no progress whatsoever, and then saying Fitness doesn't "work". Add up in your head the amount of hours you've spent playing around with this idea. Those hours are gone. You can't get them back. Do you have actual dollars to show for them? What you can do is decide to get serious, or decide to quit. Those are the only 2 options I can recommend. Playing in the middle is a waste of your time. I'm doing a LIVE intimate webinar on Monday. Just decided to do this. Many of you need help getting your plan right. In one hour, you should be able to know your exact plan for how to get from where you are to where you want to be with vacation home investing.
