Three years and counting! The SCA Alaska Wildland Fire program, hosted by the National Park Service, continues to help young women 🔥blaze🔥 a career in wildland fire-fighting and management. From the SCA to the NPS, Sophie Kuehn, a 2022 SCA alum, turned her experience at Denali National Park into a full-time career in wildland firefighting, inspiring the next generation of women in fire. "[My SCA experience working at Denali] was a perfect trial run in wildland firefighting and motivated me to work for the real deal," Kuehn tells the NPS. SCA Alum Nicole Blaser got her start in conservation while an SCA crew member building trails at Naval Air Station Whiting Field in Milton, Florida. Now she's blazing her own in the outdoor space as the co-founder of the KARUNA PROJECT, a boutique adventure travel company that aims to empower the global communities impacted by tourism. We're delighted to announce the appointment of Zachary B.olick as our new Vice President of Partnerships! A three-time SCA program participant. Bolick joined the organization full-time in 2015 and has served in various roles, most recently as Senior Director of Partnership Operations. Prior to joining the SCA, he worked for the National Parks Conservation Association and as a seasonal park ranger for numerous federal land management agencies.

The SCA Pacific Northwest (PNW) Roving Trail Corps crew participated in this effort to improve hundreds of miles of trail in the USDA Forest Service Wallowa Whitman National Forest. The crew lived in remote tent camps while they cleared fallen trees and debris from the trail. More on the final phase of the project from East Oregonian.
