    When we first launched Stuf Storage, our goal was to prove our concept across multiple markets. We wanted to demonstrate that our tech-enabled ops and proprietary software truly worked. While focusing on a single market might have been easier, expanding allowed us to validate our concept quickly, despite the many learnings and tweaks along the way. This strategy might not work for every early-stage business, but it was crucial for our growth. Today, we are doubling down on our existing markets to drive operational efficiencies in marketing, construction, and facility operations. At the same time, we're running a few experiments across our hyperlocal storage network that are only possible with some scale.     Last week, 3 people told me they saw Stuf Storage in the wild. They weren't looking for us, but they saw our signs on their way to and from work. It's incredibly satisfying when I get one of those emails or texts. We all live in the physical world, and seeing how my team's work in reimagining self-storage impacts how people live, work, and play is the ultimate reward as an entrepreneur.     I'm planning our company offsite next month. It's the #1 thing the Stuf Storage team asks for in our quarterly surveys, and naturally, our best ideas come out of these moments together. In December, we launched our first ancillary products -- an insurance program and a price lock membership (the first of its kind in the self storage industry). We spun up both projects in < 2 months after an offsite, and those 2 revenue streams now make up ~7% of our recurring revenue. I'm looking for a little inspiration.     The self-storage industry, as we know it today, began in the US in the late 1960s and naturally catered to baby boomers. Millennials and Gen-Z now account for over 50% of self storage renters and use storage differently than older generations. For Millennials and Gen-Z, storage is an extension of the home, providing extra space as residences become smaller. The younger generations are known to pick up skis or switch out furniture, clothes, or children's toys several times a month. On the flip side, Boomers seldom visit their mementos or keepsakes inherited from previous generations. I find this fascinating because: 1) online payments are still a hot topic in the self storage industry (HELLO?! It's 2024!), and 2) there's a stark mismatch between what the majority of Millennials / Gen-Z want and prefer vs. the common self storage experience today. At Stuf Storage, we're working hard to redefine the self storage experience for the next generation, and we're doing it in partnership with commercial real estate owners.
