If you’re following the continuing saga of NASA SEWP VI, here’s the latest. Q+A #1 released 10/11/24 consisted of: - We already changed the solicitation for that. - We won't change the solicitation for that. - We are going to change the solicitation for that. - See comment # for an answer to that. Today (10/24/24), NASA announced that the 2nd Q+A period is postponed until further notice. The industry day scheduled for 11/6/24 is STILL scheduled to occur. This means the government is still wading through 4,600+ questions to answer for us. We’re taking bets on when the new proposal due date will be… anyone wanna wager?! 😂

Does it seem like everyone is using whatever cool thing Patrick Mahomes did on Sundays to talk about their marketing strategy? LinkedIn can get saturated with this type of content. (Whatever significant thing is happening now) + (a lesson in business) = LinkedIn post. Football lends itself to these posts since it is so team centric, so you’re probably seeing these posts all over right now. But are there actual lessons to be gained from what we see on Sundays? Our suggestion? Watch the coaches. 👀 Coaches can tell you so much about how a team functions (or doesn’t function) together. Leading by example, setting the tone with a positive attitude, and always being prepared are the cornerstones of any winning team, whether it’s in the NFL or teams within your organization. While the QBs and flashy receivers get the attention, our eyes are on the sidelines.

Bid protests are the legal equivalent of throwing a flag on the play. When a company believes the government has made an error in the award process… whether it’s about evaluation criteria, compliance, or fair competition, they can file a protest to challenge the decision. It’s a tool to keep the game fair, but it’s also a double-edged sword that can delay or disrupt contract awards (which is agonizing for us proposal professionals😅). The recent OASIS+ protest is a perfect example. This contract was designed to streamline access to professional services from small businesses, but it quickly faced challenges. Several companies filed protests against the set-aside decisions, arguing that the evaluation process wasn’t transparent or fair, particularly regarding how small businesses were assessed for eligibility. So, what’s the impact? Protests can trigger a pause on contract awards and send the government back to the drawing board, which is exactly what happened with OASIS+. This means delays in the roll-out of services and, in some cases, can lead to a complete reevaluation of the procurement process. 😳 While this might feel like a headache for everyone involved, it’s also a critical check-and-balance that ensures fairness and compliance in federal contracting. For small businesses, knowing when and how to protest can level the playing field. But be strategic… protests are serious business with strict timelines, and they’re not without risk. You could end up in a lengthy battle that might not change the outcome. But when used wisely, a protest can correct mistakes and set a precedent for more transparent, fairer processes in the future. Navigating protests is part of the GovCon game. Stay informed, know your rights, and always play to win. 🏆

After 20 years in the AEC industry, I’m beyond excited to announce my next chapter as a freelance Marketing + Proposal Manager with Summit Strategy! Boy, does time off make you realize what you value most. I never thought this type of freedom was possible for an AEC marketer, but here I am, able to work from anywhere, choose my workload based on MY bandwidth, and set a pace that fits my lifestyle. The flexibility of freelancing gives me the perfect work-life balance, and I can't wait to see how many places I can work from around the world! 🌍✈️ Here’s to embracing new opportunities, traveling (and working!) on my own terms, and continuing to do what I love.
