We were honored to have Suntory Holdings CEO Tak Niinami join our US Commercial Leadership Forum last week in Las Vegas. He spoke about the importance of listening to our consumers as we work to deliver incredible experiences through our premium brands.

Chief Executive Officer at Suntory Holdings Limited

Last week, I was in Las Vegas for the Suntory Global Spirits US Commercial Leadership Forum. It was a great opportunity to connect with the team and share my thoughts on what I truly believe we can accomplish together as #OneSuntory One Family.          Las Vegas is an incredible stage for our brands and a place to experience Gemba. Gemba translates from Japanese as ‘the real place’, which includes the concept of ‘the place where value is created’ or where ‘the work gets done.’ In our business, that could be a bar or restaurant, a retail account or a distillery.     So, why is Gemba important to our culture? It’s simple. It’s because we can learn so much by spending time there - visiting stores, talking to retailers, engaging with bartenders, and listening to consumers. We see firsthand how our products are being presented and perceived, and these insights are valuable for us to take action to improve and exceed consumer expectations. As a team, we discussed how important it is that we take this into account in every single thing that we do and that we constantly strive to work in service of our customers.   A core theme we discussed is that in our industry, we are operating in a rapidly changing world and confronting new realities. However, this is an opportunity to act and deepen our commitment to leveraging our power of harmony as One Suntory, One Family to make us stronger and better prepared for the future.  Yatte Minahare!

Last week, we joined a ribbon cutting ceremony for Kentucky’s first dedicated glass recycling program, RecycWELL. Spearheaded by Workwell Industries in Louisville, Kentucky, the initiative will create new job opportunities for the local community and provide essential glass recycling services for Suntory Global Spirits and other major distillers, processing an expected 1,200 tons of glass packaging in its first year.   With our Proof Positive commitments to sustainable packaging, we are proud to support this collective initiative to continue our positive impact in our local communities. Thanks to our partners and industry peers who joined us in this effort: O-I, Diageo North America, Pernod Ricard, the Glass Recycling Foundation and the Glass Packaging Institute.
