Truly Sustainable Printed Electronics-based IoT Combining Optical and Radio Wireless Technologies (Horizon Europe)
About us
SUPERIOT is a Horizon Europe project which aims to develop a truly sustainable and highly flexible internet of things (IoT) system based on the dual-mode use of optical and radio communications, combined with the exploitation of printed electronics technology. The SUPERIOT project has received funding from the Smart Networks and Services Joint Undertaking (SNS JU) under the European Union's Horizon Europe research and innovation programme under Grant Agreement No 101096021, including top-up funding by UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) under the UK government’s Horizon Europe funding guarantee. Views and opinions expressed are however those of the authors only and do not necessarily reflect those of the European Union, SNS JU or UKRI. The European Union, SNS JU or UKRI cannot be held responsible for them.

SUPERIOT researcher Emanuel Carlos returned for the Brazilian Materials Research Society (B-MRS) 2024 meeting this week where he led two symposia on important SUPERIOT topics: memristors and printed electronics. It sounds like a great event! Congratulations Emanuel! https://lnkd.in/ezDhJ5qB #SUPERIOT #HorizonEurope #6GSNS
This week I returned to Brazil for the B-MRS XXII conference in Santos - São Paulo (Sociedade Brasileira De Pesquisa Em Materiais Sbpmat). Just like last year, it was a fantastic conference, but this year some records were broken with 1777 participants. This year I had the opportunity to organise two symposia (EP02 - Memristor devices from theory to system level integration for next generation of computation and communication; EP05 - Sustainable Development of Printed Electronics: from Materials Processing to Devices Implementation) with my colleagues João Coelho, Neri Alves, Maíza Ozório, Jonas Deuermeier, Asal Kiazadeh and Carlos Bufon. In addition, I gave a talk on ‘Sustainable processes to produce metal oxide devices: from coating to printing’ and shared some EU projects (Emerge Project, INFRACHIP, SUPERIOT, TERRAMETA Project) with the Brazilian community. I would like to thank all the invited speakers (Rodrigo Martins, Henrique Gomes, Ana Claudia Arias, Sergio Pinilla Yanguas, Joaquin Ramirez-Rico, Osvaldo Oliveira Junior, Stephan Menzel, Valeria Bragaglia, Vitor Tavares, among others), lectures and students for their commitment and interest in our symposium. Finally, I would like to thank the organisers Laura Péres and Lucas Fugikawa-Santos for their excellent work. I hope to see you next year :) CENIMAT|i3N UNINOVA #SBPMat

In this short video, SUPERIOT researcher Dr. Juha Häkkinen from University of Oulu talks about one of the IoT applications which is being developed in the project. Using sustainable visible light communications could improve the tracking of patients, equipment and staff in a hospital environment. This is just one of several novel ideas being studied in SUPERIOT. Please get in touch via the website if you have any questions! https://lnkd.in/etUNT3HS #SUPERIOT #6GSNS #HorizonEurope
