We just made it through a roller coaster, a marathon, a hike like we’ve never done before. So, take a moment and most importantly, ✨ take a deep breath✨ Across the country, polls are beginning to close. Millions of women have voted today and we are so proud of our staff, and our volunteers for the work they did to help make that happen. Here are some reminders: ✅ Every vote counts and we need to count every vote. ✅ The election will be called by officials and decision desks that are trustworthy when all votes are counted. ✅Be wary of anyone claiming to “win” this election before all votes have been counted. Every single vote counts. No matter what happens tonight, our work continues.

📰 Extra extra! 🗞️ New story in AP all about young women being the deciding electorate in 2024! Jessica Herrera, a senior director at Supermajority, a liberal organization focused on mobilizing young women, said abortion is a potent issue because it’s a symbol of autonomy. “When candidates and politicians talk about abortion, it isn’t the procedure itself,” she said. “It’s the power that we have to make decisions about our own lives.” Supermajority’s research focuses on young women who are infrequent voters or don’t vote, and Herrera thinks Harris is poised to expand the electorate. “If we see a surge this year, it’s going to be young women voters,” she said. “They have come around in a way that I think is surprising.”

Today is #LatinaEqualPayDay -- the day that marks how far into 2024 Latinas must work to earn what white, non-Hispanic men earned in 2023. The wage gap has widened for the first time in 20 years, with Latinas earning just 58 cents for every $1. Despite being one of the fastest-growing and most influential groups in the U.S., Latina workers stand to lose over $1.2 million over a 40-year career due to this disparity. There is policy change on the table that can close the pay gap for Latinas and we encourage you to organize around a few actions, starting with the Paycheck Fairness Act. We asked some of the amazing Latinas on our team what they have to say to the next generation of Latinas entering the workforce. Check out what they shared! "To the next generation of Latinas: know that your power lies in defining success on your own terms. You’ve worked hard and deserve to take up space in every room you enter, so don’t let anyone or anything make you feel otherwise. We stand on the legacy of the strong Latina women before us, let’s honor them by continuing to break barriers together, el cambio lo hacemos juntas." - Justa Lopez, Arizona Lead Program Manager. "One of the most powerful tools we all have to support equal pay is pay transparency. Consider sharing what you make and your own salary journey with fellow Latinas coming up in the workforce to help them get paid their worth sooner. And vote whenever equal pay is on the ballot!" - Nicole De La Loza Rivera, Director of People and Operations "This next generation of Latinas are guerreras, so I’m going to share some messages from mi madre that turned out to be verdad: ✨amate mas que anyone else; ✨you are not demasiado, you are perfecta; ✨that space is yours—let them be incomodos; ✨don’t let them make you doubt yourself; ✨trust your insintos; ✨remember your historia and honor your antepasados, no escondas who you are; ✨and, no matter gets thrown your way, no te ahogues en un vaso de agua. El mundo is YOURS, go get it!!!" - Yalitza LaFontaine, Deputy Director of People and Equity

“Behind every number is a face, a person, a story. I try to impart on my team that it’s not just about the numbers, it’s about the people. It’s about the people because [the] government—all of this—belongs to us,” said Jara Butler, the chief impact officer of Supermajority, an organization that seeks to mobilize young women voters. As Supermajority organizers continue to uplift the concerns of those most impacted, they do so with the understanding that things likely will not change overnight, but that it’s important to plant the seeds of change. “No matter what happens November 5, the problems don’t end just because of the election,” Butler said. “The problems can increase or decrease, but the fact of the matter is that there’s still work to be done.” https://lnkd.in/d_X3Diey

Our 2024 Voting Guide (including a sample ballot and more) is live!: https://lnkd.in/e-KhjzeP Your vote and your voice matter, and no amount of misinformation (or disinformation) can change that. In the age of social media, misinformation (false or misleading information shared without harmful intent) and disinformation (intentionally deceptive information spread to manipulate or mislead) have become widespread, especially around elections. Here are some helpful reminders on how to stay vigilant, critical, and connected to reliable information this election season and beyond⬇️ 🔎 Check the Source: Consider the source of the information. Is it from a reputable news outlet or organization? Be cautious of websites you’ve never heard of or ones that have a history of spreading false information. 🔎Verify the Facts: Look for multiple sources to confirm the information. If a claim is true, it will likely be reported by several reliable news outlets. 🔎Beware of Emotional Manipulation: Misinformation and disinformation often play on strong emotions like fear, anger, or outrage. If a piece of content makes you feel extreme emotions, take a step back and question its authenticity. 🔎Check the Date: Sometimes, old stories or images are recirculated to create confusion. Always check the date to ensure the information is current and relevant to the context in which it’s being used. 🔎Watch Out for Misleading Imagery: Photos and videos can be edited or taken out of context to mislead. Reverse image search tools can help you verify the origin of an image to see if it’s being used accurately. 🔎Look for Full Context: Quotes or facts presented without context can be misleading. Always seek out the full story before drawing conclusions. If you have any other tips you'd like to share, drop them in the comments below!
