As we reflect on the impacts of domestic violence, it's crucial that we unite as shipmates, colleagues, and a supportive community. We have an obligation to be there for one another, especially during challenging times. October is Domestic Violence Awareness and Prevention Month. Let’s consider these ways to contribute to the cause: 1. Educate Ourselves: Knowledge equals awareness. Learn and recognize the signs of domestic violence, like physical injuries, loss of interest in daily activities, being extremely apologetic, or often late to work and meetings. 2. Be a Safe Place: As a team, let’s ensure everyone feels safe and supported. Foster an environment where we can turn to one another in confidence and without judgment. 3. Encourage Open Dialogue: Discussions can help break the silence surrounding domestic violence. Create a space where people feel at ease to talk about their challenges and ask for help. Let’s build a culture where we lift one another up, not just as colleagues but as a team that genuinely cares. My door is always open if there are any questions or concerns. #DomesticViolenceAwareness #SupportEachOther #CommunityStrong #OctoberAwareness #EndDomesticViolence

National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM) This October, we celebrate the incredible value and talent that workers with disabilities bring to America’s workplaces and economy. #NDEAM is a time to reaffirm our commitment to ensuring Individuals with Disabilities (IWD) have access to rewarding employment every day. This year’s theme is “Access to Good Jobs for All.” Good jobs change lives, and all workers, including those with disabilities, deserve the opportunity to prepare for, obtain, and succeed in meaningful employment. As part of the Department of the Navy’s (DON) commitment to being a model employer of IWD and increasing access to good jobs, the DON has made significant strides in increasing access to employment for IWD, with more than 14 percent of our workforce being IWD. This surpasses the 12 percent goal set by the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission for federal agencies. Qualified candidates with disabilities can be recruited to join Supervisor of Shipbuilding, Conversion & Repair - Newport News, Va and other Navy civilian jobs using sources such as the USAJOBS Agency Talent Portal. For more information on NDEAM, visit the Department of Labor website at https://lnkd.in/eQsUZ9U.
