SUS was hired to remove the existing stainless steel vent shaft piping and protection box in a 150’ deep shaft and replace it with a new stainless steel vent shaft piping and protection box. This involved a five-person dive crew working in a hazardous/sewage environment while being lowered by a 70-ton crane in a man basket to perform the demo and installation at multiple elevations. Along with the demo, the crew had numerous holes to drill to install the new hardware to support the new vent shaft piping. In addition, the dive crew had to use the underwater torch (BROCO) to burn existing 90-degree discharge piping in almost zero visibility. All this work was completed within the required outage time frame and did not interrupt the plant's operation. #MarineConstruction #DivingCrew #ProjectUpdate
