Everything you need to create an impactful learning experience online

About us

Sutra provides you with everything you need to create an impactful group learning experience. It's one place to host your content, save zoom recordings, and continue the discussion between calls. You can create beautiful landing pages for your courses and process payments, all with one tool. Whether you have a small group or a thriving ecosystem, it's designed to be a safe space for meaningful conversation and connection. Sutra was founded after years of actively researching how communities function. Our effort explored ways to connect people within communities to share knowledge and resources, particularly around work. Through a journey of extended iteration and testing, we began to see how learning can be a pathway to practicing new ways of being together. Building tools to help people create conversational learning experiences that bring people together has become the focus of our work. Our mission is to create a global ecosystem of relational learning spaces that invite presence, meaningful connection, and shared understanding. We do this by providing educators with tools and resources to create powerful group experiences. We believe there has never been a greater need for presence and our aspiration is to build software that fosters mutual support and empathy through dialogue, co-creation, and learning.

Over the last four years we’ve been quietly iterating on a feature called interactive journeys. This is one of the most unique and popular features on Sutra and we’ve decided to make this the focus of our ongoing work. One of the biggest challenges with self paced courses is that they have very low engagement and completion. Over 97% of online courses don’t get completed and there’s no social dimension - no way for participants to learn from each other. With our new focus, we’re combining everything we’ve learned over the last decade of group facilitation with an AI engine that lets anyone create rich, conversational experiences that generate higher engagement, completion, and peer to peer connection. This Thursday, August 8th, we’re presenting a special Sutra Showcase where we’ll be unveiling more details about this feature and walking you through some example experiences. Join us and register for the free event here: https://showcase.sutra.co

Co-Founder at Sutra - the simplest way for people to learn together online.

My partner, Natasha Sell, and I have spent the last nine years researching and prototyping meaningful connection online. One of the most effective strategies we’ve discovered is something we call Relational Learning Patterns. This is a way of working with the online space during a Zoom call to create deep engagement, meaningful connection, and real conversation. This Wednesday, April 3rd, we’re hosting a free community workshop where we’ll share some of these patterns through direct experience so that you understand exactly how they work. You can register here: https://lnkd.in/eWvuZuNd

The nature of a relational space is the way that it invites shared awareness. We come into a more conscious relationship with the full spectrum of our mental, emotional, and physical experience, together. One of the things that we realized ten years ago when we started working on Sutra, was that a well designed group learning experience offers a very practical context where people can practice new ways of being together. Whether you’re creating a course, building a community, or working on a project, you have an opportunity to bring people together in a way that invites presence, meaningful connection, and deep conversation. Doing this work online opens up entirely new opportunities for reach and impact. Tomorrow, Tuesday 2/26, we’re hosting a workshop where we’ll share some key insights we’ve distilled over the last decade of designing relational spaces online. We’re really excited to be organizing on online event called the Transformational Learning Summit taking place January 29-31, 2024. Over the years we’ve had an opportunity to connect with some amazing leaders in the world of transformation. Now we’re excited to bring all these people together in one event that will hopefully offer you deep insight and inspiration. The panelists cover a broad spectrum of expertise from academia to practice, philosophy to psychology, racial equity to leadership, and even virtual reality to marketing and sales. Delivering transformation isn’t just about some specific process. It encompasses a whole universe of conditions, understandings, and things that have to happen in order to deliver that experience. If you’re delivering transformation, you’re likely also studying and selling transformation. That’s just the reality of being a transformational change maker in the world today. The event is free and you can see the list of speakers and register here: https://lnkd.in/e8JEX9NQ Please help us spread the word and share with your networks.

Next week, on 11/15, we're connecting with global leadership expert Eric Martin to explore his work with Adaptive Leadership. According to Eric, developing a new kind of leadership starts with a deeper look at ourselves. The last few years have revealed deep structural and systemic issues in our society. From equity issues to people's loss of trust in institutions. The need for a different approach to leadership is evident. Before tackling the adaptive challenges "out there" in our organizations or in our communities, we engage first with the challenges "in here". That is, the blind spots, assumptions, and undiscovered potential within ourselves. Eric has brought leadership development to over 300,000 people in 146 countries. His work extends the framework of Adaptive Leadership, a leadership practice developed at Harvard. Eric has been published in Fast Company, Stanford Social Innovation Review, Environmental Leader and the book, Your Leadership Moment. Eric’s work has been used to tackle structural barriers to transitioning to a low-carbon economy, improve health equity and access, and evolve the role of advanced technologies like blockchain in our daily lives. In this conversation we’ll delve into what leadership means today and approaches to teaching leadership, particularly online. Please join us at 12 pm EST on Wednesday, November 15th. You can register here: https://live.sutra.co.
