Dr. Ferluga, Synapticure's Director of Movement Disorders, had the privilege of speaking at Siskin Hospital to their Parkinson's Disease Support Group. It was a fantastic opportunity to connect with the community and to share the invaluable resources Synapticure has to offer. Dr. Ferluga shared: "Thank you to the Siskin Parkinson's Disease Support Group for inviting me to speak yesterday about Synapticure. We had a full house of people living with PD and their loved ones. We discussed the amazing resources that are available through Synapticure. There were even a couple of unexpected testimonials from the audience! A recent study on Alzheimer’s Disease has shown that comprehensive lifestyle changes can significantly improve cognition and slow the progression of mild cognitive impairment 🧠 A recent randomized clinical trial has shown that lifestyle changes, like plant-based diet, exercise, stress management, and social support can significantly improve cognition and slow the progression of mild cognitive impairment or early dementia due to Alzheimer’s disease. In just 20 weeks, patients in the intervention group demonstrated significant improvements in cognitive function and key biomarkers compared to those who continued with usual care. At Synapticure, our expert cognitive neurologists are here to help. We create tailored care plans based on your goals and lifestyle, providing compassionate guidance for those living with dementia and their caregivers. New research has identified genetic markers linked to rare cases where individuals with ALS show sustained improvements, a phenomenon known as 'ALS Reversal.' While these findings are preliminary, they open new avenues for exploring the underlying mechanisms of this complex disease. Ongoing studies will be key to understanding what these markers might mean for future research and treatments.👇 Learn more: https://lnkd.in/gXqmH-pH #ALSResearch #Genetics #Neuroscience

Enhancing Speech Clarity for those with ALS, Parkinson’s, and Alzheimer’s 🗣️ At Synapticure, we understand the profound impact communication difficulties have on patients with neurodegenerative diseases. Our tailored interventions focus on improving speech clarity, articulation, and fluency. 🔹 ALS: Patients often face dysarthria, characterized by slurred or slow speech. Techniques like respiratory muscle strength training, speech pacing, and using amplifiers help increase vocal loudness. 🔹 Parkinson’s: Speech may become soft, breathy, or monotonous. Lee Silverman Voice Treatment (LSVT) is an effective method to improve vocal loudness and articulation. 🔹 Alzheimer’s: Word-finding difficulties and impaired syntax affect speech clarity. Strategies such as repetitive practice, simplifying language, and using visual aids support effective communication. Our experts help guide patients and their families through the complexities of communication and swallowing changes associated with neurodegenerative diseases. Visit synapticure.com or call us at (855) 255-5917 to discuss care options and whether speech therapy is the right step for you.

Patient Advocate Young Onset Parkinson’s Disease-promoting patient engagement “Nothing About Us Without Us”

I remember when I saw this analysis, 4 months after my diagnosis of Young Onset Parkinson’s Disease. I was working in an community health center, but had traveled to Mayo for my own diagnosis. I was acutely aware that the high quality care I was getting was due to my own privilege. But even for me it was a struggle due to my geography. There is no Movement Disorder Specialist in this part of the country. I would sit on Zooms where people in big cities would talk about neuropsych, neurophysio, neuro-opthamology even and I sunk deeper in my chair. I found a physical therapist and a speech therapist and benefited greatly. But then the bills arrived and I scaled back, began to rely more on the free resources I found on-line. I am an Ambassador for the Parkinson’s Foundation for many reasons, this honest data is part of that. There is lots of work to be done.

The Alzheimer's Association®'s International Conference (#AAIC24) is the largest international meeting dedicated to dementia research and clinical care. This year over 7,000 people attended AAIC from 93 countries! Here's what Abigail O'Connell, Synapticure's Director of Clinical Trial Operations, shared about her time at AAIC: "I always leave AAIC inspired by the latest in dementia science and care. It's an incredible opportunity to connect with others in the field and learn from the work being done in dementia worldwide. This year's highlights included advances in disease-modifying treatments, new treatment approaches, and expanding research on blood-based biomarkers.
