To kick off CNA Week, we’re excited to share Darrell Pink, a CNA at Northampton Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, was selected as an Argentum HEAP Apprentice All-Star. He was one of eight selected nationwide. “It makes me definitely realize that the work that I do doesn’t go unnoticed,” Darrell says of the honor. “Especially with the care I do give to the residents, I know it’s my job, but I do go above and beyond to actually be there. Not just change them or feed them, but mentally as well.” Darrell graduated from the VHS earn-as-you-learn apprenticeship program in October 2023. He has been at Northampton since. “I do really like the people I work with. And I enjoy my residents even more. We have a really good connection. I’ve gotten to know some of their families. I think it’s been great, honestly,” he said. Darrell spent eight years in the Navy, and retired “medically” a year ago. He found the apprentice program through a transition class, and his fiancé encouraged him to stay in the area. He will graduate in about a year with a degree in psychology and will attend school to be a physician assistant (PA). Darrell did technical combat casualty care, so he is sued to a really fast pace. “I wanted to be a PA, but I also wanted to get that pre-experience with patient contact and getting to know first-hand what it was like to deal with residents,” he said of becoming a CNA. Former team members Amy Poe and Tennille Warren, who graduated from the VHS apprenticeship program, also were selected as all-stars. Congratulations, Darrell! Our COO of Hamilton-Ryker's TalentGro division, Shari Seibert Franey, visited Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin, to celebrate the graduation of the state's first Caregivers/CNAs apprentices. These dedicated individuals work for HDG at the Wisconsin VA Veteran Home at Chippewa Falls, a beautiful facility committed to caring for and honoring our veterans every day. It was an honor to collaborate with Benjamin Stahlecker (left) and Chuck Olsen (right) from the Wisconsin Bureau of Apprenticeship. What a perfect occasion to recognize those who serve our veterans during the 80th anniversary of D-Day!
